2019 NBA Draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
That dribble by Barrett was bad........

Yeah, fuck. I think I compared him to a smaller Marvin Bagley at some point, and I'm sticking with that. Won't mind at all if he's off the board when we pick.

I think it's too early to tell. Tbh, I have no idea how he plays.

Agree this is all premature and I could easily do a 180 and love him by the halfway point of the college season. But from what I've seen so far, he seems like he's *really* far away from being even a secondary ballhandler type at the NBA level, and I'm not sure he's naturally coordinated enough with the ball in his hands to ever get there. And if his offensive upside is limited like that...he seems like more of a mid-lottery talent than a high-lottery talent.

He looks weird in highlights...

Like weak first step, lack of handle, awkward shot and overall "uncoordinated". He seems to be creative and efficient enough to make it work for now.

He's Rodney hood like

Just out of curiosity I want to hear how you guys would rank these 4 guys: Barrett, Reddish, Williamson, Little

They're probably the top tier right now. Haven't watched Sekou though much, he could be in there too.

I'd go Williamson-Little-Reddish-Barrett right now if I had to rank them...really tough. I might put Williamson and Little in tier 1a, Reddish, Barrett and probably a few other guys in tier 1b.

I feel like we need to tank for Zion... And name our draft watch thread "Road to Zion 2019".

If we start off slow this season i'm definitely trading Love, maybe to Boston for that Kings pick. Tank and have 2 top 5 picks.

Zion was very impressive yesterday on the offensive end. His defense was abysmal, though - which you won't hear about or see in the highlights. Just would have to hope it's a lack of conditioning, or a relaxed mindset being that is was an exhibition game. It was tremendously bad lol.

Barrett looked very good. I think he will be hurt the most by Duke's lack of spacing. Probably handled the ball much more than he would in most games with Reddish and Tre Jones out. Definitely forced the issue a few times, but that's to be expected with those guys out.

Both were impressive.

This draft's star power is significantly higher than last years. There are franchise changing players in this draft imo. It's significantly shallower, but it looks promising at the top.

Again, too early to tell, but everyone in the top 10 of last years draft had real, glaring weaknesses that you don't want normally see in franchise players.

Lol, it's funny because I said I hated this draft just a few weeks ago, but I can't deny the top-end talent's potential. Still, not a fan of RJ.

Couldn't agree more. Every top guy in 2018 has a clear avenue to busting.

One of my biggest pet peeves in drafts is the early connotation that people put on a draft class 2 years in advance - which always ends up sticking and just continually gets repeated over and over again. For example, people just decided the 2019 draft class is trash over a year ago, and that sentiment still exists (and overall won't change any time leading up to the draft). People have already made up their mind that 2021 is a top-end class lol.

The top of this draft class looks legit right now, but even now it is so wide open. It wouldn't surprise me if around draft time that I'm of the mindset that I like one or two guys from this class better than anyone from 2018. Trae Young wasn't even in ESPN's top 100 at this time last year. Skal Labissiere was a consensus #1 guy in August a couple of years ago. etc etc

Just have to hope that some depth builds up in the 5-10th pick range over this season. Worst case scenario when rebuilding is getting stuck in that area without an opportunity to take a true difference maker.

RJ looked really stiff/upright when running and dribbling in transition. Not saying he has unathletic, but based on the hype I’d read, I expected to see a much more fluid, flexible athlete.

Does he project as a true modern SF or is he more of a slim undersized PF?
