2019 NBA Playoffs Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It’s crazy that the Raptors blew that game but all anybody will talk about is KD’s injury because of what it means for the entire landscape of the NBA. Steve Kerr deferring to Bob Myers when asked about KD’s health then Bob Myers incredibly bizarre performance. He seemed more bothered by how this will reflect on the organization than KD’s future as a basketball player. It was clear to many that he was holding his Achilles after the initial injury but I’m not a doctor.

I feel sorry for New York fans because they almost stepped into a dynasty. Now there is certainly no way a diminished version of KD will lead you to any glory, at least not paired with Kyrie.

Im trying to feel bad for Durant.

I just don't.

I totally agree. How could we? He joined a team that didn’t need him, and profited from their already established success. It’s completely dishonorable, and this is karma rearing it’s ugly head.

It is what it is.

We're all bitter about it.
I think the hope was that after 2015, 2016? We'd see the Cavs get another title and another O'Brien trophy in the case.

That move shut the door and really killed the team as a result. It likely led to Kyrie leaving and LeBron just saying "whatever. It's not going to happen any more"

but you know Silicon Valley is happy.
As is the media who got to guarantee themselves regular visits to the bay area for vacation.

If it's an Achilles tear, I just don't see some team taking that gamble and giving him a 4 year max. Maybe someone gives him a one year max with an team option year.

I think he just opts into the Warriors option he has now or they give him some good will contract and give him the one and one with a player option.

It already hard to build a team with the salary cap. To handicap a team for multiple years of 38+ million just to gamble on a 30 year old player who could be coming off one of the worse injuries for a basketball player, is basically a GM putting a timer on his job.

It's pretty manager macabre to immediately get curious about his contract, but he has to pick up that player option.

That handicaps that team and costs them an enormous amount of money next year for a guy they can't play.

It will be very interesting how it works out

I don't wish injury on anyone, but I'll say the KD injury is karma for the GSW fans cheering Zaza's actions a couple of years back. Cousins tried to choke the game away in the last couple of mins. Good thing Trash Bro Lowry was there to help the Warriors out.

Im not up on all the intricacies of the "Disabled Player exception" to the salary cap, but I suspect they could sign a replacement player for one year

Doucheface has always seen players as commodities, and not been excessively loyal to any of them; Steph still has no NTC. And for the most part that's been why he's so successful.

"Understand this world...?" "Let me tell you something about KD...one of the most misunderstood people..." This is "sir, this is an Arby's" level stuff.

Man, the fucking media is so biased it's insane. I heard NOTHING when the Warriors fans cheered Kawhi's injury a couple of years ago. And if I'm not mistaken, they did the same for the Kyrie injury in 2015.

Ultimately, it was dumb of the Raptors fans to boo the injury but it came soon after KD fouled Van Vleet multiple times and then jawed at him. It also came after the refs basically started gifting the Warriors points. Draymond gets a pass for being over emotional and saying shit but a fanbase can't? I don't condone it, but no chance in hell that injury didn't stem from the one he suffered earlier. Whether they said it was a calf or not, it was a non contact injury. As was the one today.

When a "chosen team's" fans do bad things, you know they don't keep the same energy. I'm a fan of the Eagles. I watched us cheer as they took Michael Irvin off the field. So I'm kind of IDGAF mode because they will never give the "chosen side" the same energy. I almost give the Raptors fans a pass; this is manufactured bullshit to generate sympathy for the oligarch franchise. I don't even want to get into what would have happened if that were the Cavs fans in the same situation, they would get damn near the "Eagles" treatment.

Speaking of BRAYmond, I was surprised that he actually got a TECH during the game. I hope he gets another, somehow.

It looks like KD will now live up to that "Fauxbe" moniker I sometimes use for him. Even though he is kind of the anti-Kobe (more efficient offensively, GS fanbase does the OPPOSITE of Laker fans regarding him) ... this Achilles tear is just another movement into that "Bizarro Kobe" direction. And maybe GS fans (provided he stays there, which I believe he will now) actually do embrace him like Laker fans do Kobe, out of sheer guilt, now.

Also, I hate Klay "PBS Logo Face" Thompson. Hate him. Lucky Horseshoe up the ass when it counted.

This offseason was already gonna be crazy, this changes everything. What's worse is i think this is going 7 and now these dickheads have something even bigger to rally around. Raps better have their big boy pants on thursday.
