I think the Rams, Eagles, Saints, and Vikings will fight it out for the NFC.
-Dallas should regress. They won a ton of games that, in the fourth quarter, were effectively random chance. This, combined with their inefficient offensive play calling, should see them have more problems against good teams.
-The Bears are interesting. Last season they put forward one of the best defenses in the past decade. This explains how they were so easily able to overcome horrendous quarterback play. But, defense is incredibly inconsistent season-to-season, and while I think Chicago will still have a top-ten defense, I do not believe it will be good enough to overcome their offense.
-The Seahawks are another team that probably should regress. If they ever get an offensive coordinator that acknowledges how transcendently great Russell Wilson is and uses him correctly, though, the team will have another dynasty.
-Jared Goff is getting criticized for a bad run of playoff games, and that is fair, but he also was phenomenal all season. Maybe teams figured him out, but, maybe it was just a bad few games? I think that a weaker running game will actually force the Rams to pass even more, and as a result, the team will be better.
-A healthy Wentz surrounded by that Eagles unit, without the Foles-based distraction, should be dangerous.
-Saints have gone all-in the past few years, and this season will be no different. The Saints are going to struggle against teams that can generate an interior pass rush. The Rams were able to prevent Brees from stepping up into the pocket, and as a result, he could not throw the ball far at all. I expect teams to target the Saints more on the interior.
-The Vikings' had two huge issues last year. First, Defilippo was auditioning for HC jobs, and called poor games that did not adjust for the opponent. Second, and more importantly, they had the worst offensive line in football. The Vikings have addressed both issues this offseason. I think they will surprise some people. Cousins is overpaid, but, he's still a QB that can help his team win. They also have a great receiving core and an above-average and improving defense.
