2019 RCF NFL Mock Draft - Commentary

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
On Gary--great comparison with S. Thomas. I think his career mirrors S. Richardson. Starts out on the edge and ends up at the 3.

Oliver--is his 280 weight combine weight or playing weight? I think its combine like Murray at 208lb. 20 years ago u stick this guy at MLB and watch him kill people. LOL

Bush--and really White. Last year Smith went 8th overall and about everyone agrees Bush and White are not Smith.

I lose a lot of respect for anyone as soon as they bring up the possibility of Ed Oliver playing linebacker.

I didn't say today. I said 20 years ago. It would be like making ur own player on Madden. LOL

@Ohio getting a very strong return in that trade.

In real life, we likely don’t touch that return—and I even like Duke.

Edited: “Robbery” was probably excessive.

While I appreciate the cred, there were several offers competitive with that one. Some arguably offering more than @King Stannis did.

But, my job is to do what is best for the Browns. And sometimes that means taking a lesser deal because you don't want to strengthen the competition.

Sure, but we are all irrational Browns fans on this site, hence the overflow of interest. We probably have higher value on Duke than he’s likely to get in return.

Right. It will definitely be interesting to see what he goes for. I'm sure there will be a fair amount of interest, just as there was in our mock draft. Should help his market.

Once he requested a trade and was no-showing, that hurts. It reduces our ability to wait to be blown away.

We’re going to still be patient, but I wish his trade request didn’t leak.

Eh, we only had the fourth round to work with since Duke's trade request came so late. So what else should I have traded? I had two fourths.

Moreover, Duke may have been underused in Cleveland, but someone of his skill set is extremely valuable to a team like the Falcons who need to win now because Ryan is not getting any younger.

Duke will get many touches in Atlanta not only because Freeman is fragile, but also because Duke is a guy that should be used all over the field not unlike McCaffrey in Carolina.

With Jones receiving double-teams, with Ridley as a deep threat, with Hockenson keeping the LBs busy, Duke floating out of the backfield, or working the slot, will utterly feast and rack up YAC.

Yeah, that would be a ridiculous set of weapons.

Dare I say...Browns-esque?

You done good.

I agree on all of those things regarding Duke’s skill set and how well it would fit in Atlanta.

It’s just utterly shocking how little NFL veterans return in draft compensation. Especially the RB position.

I think a 4th is right from my perspective in that it takes at least that much for me to want to even part with him.

That said, I would be very happy and shocked to get a 4th from Duke at this point, especially now that he has requested out.

I don't think it's all that bad.

When the story about the Browns cutting Josh Gordon "leaked" it generated an even better market for him.

If multiple teams are interested, it's not bad that it leaked. We have plenty of time to get rid of him before training camp.

Hey, I hope you’re right.

At this point, I’m just not expecting it.

I don't think the no-showing is really a big deal since it's just voluntary work right now. I have to imagine that, if we can't find a good offer for him, he'll report when it becomes mandatory.

I think the main reason guys on the block don't show up for these voluntary workouts is at the request of their agents, who probably don't want to risk them getting hurt and tanking their trade value. Ogbah never requested a trade as far as I know but he didn't show up either because he knew the team was working to trade him. I'm guessing Duke is in the same situation.

Imagine if we still had Josh Gordon on a rookie contract next year and he wasn’t a bonehead...

I used to play this game, but there is no reality that exists where Gordon isn't a bonehead.

Getting a 5th for him was an absolute coup.
