2019 Spring Training

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yes, but we don't need a 5th starter for 2 weeks, so either he is sitting in the bullpen for two weeks, or they put him in the minor league camp to keep him on a regular schedule. Essentially since he still has options, this would allow them to keep his body on a good schedule and to keep him sharp.

Why would you put a pitcher in the bullpen you need to stretch and use as a starter in 2 weeks? Isnt there really only one option and that is get him in rotation at AAA so he is ready to go and stretched?

Well that was my point, but AAA doesnt start the season at the same time, so he would be still in the minor league camp then onto a start or two at AA/AAA then to the big league club. They don't start until the 4th of April, so he will be in the minor league camp playing games, then a start or two at AA/AAA then to the big league club around that time of the roadtrip to Detroit, KC and Seattle. They don't want him in the bullpen, so he will be in the minors to start the season, and they will keep up an extra bullpen arm until then.

He's not going to be needed to pitch until somewhere around 10-12th of April during the Detroit or KC series. with camp breaking the 27th and first game on the 28th of March, thats about 2 weeks in before he sees anytime outside of maybe coming out of the bullpen, so thats why he would be in minor league camp going on the schedule to stay pitching.
Yeah, he’s starting in the minors. He’s not sitting in the bullpen.

Looking at the first week, I don't think Clev will have a start early in the season either since its one game, one day off, three games, then a day off again. We won't see him until after that day off as well. Not sure who will have Bieber's spot to start the season though! We may keep Goody up to round out the bullpen, but I think he is set for the minors honestly.

Just noticed we are down to 20 position players actually in camp, including CarGo, Haase (who both aren't likely to make the team out of camp) and Lindor (who hasn't been decided on). So essentially 4-5 more position players to cut down to the projected opening day roster.

So I go to the game on Sunday, looks like I get to see the starters

Essentially the SS and utility spot and the OF spots aren't set, but there isn't a ton of position players still in camp hence why today's split squad has guys from minor league camp.

Trevor is Ralphie Ciffareto.

Smarter than most, always breakin peoples balls, always goes way too far to the point of annoying everyone.

Will go too far one day and get whacked.
