#25: ATH, Jabrill Peppers

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Maybe I am in the minority here, but it seems like people are taking college football amd their allegiances way too far. I guess i never really understood the culture, so to speak.

People make it sound like the guy personally came to their house and urinated/spit on their mother and family crest.

I know @David. and I agree that the matrination would be fine. Not sure what my family crest is so I might not even know if he was urinating on it.

Feel like you probably would understand if there was a Steelers player who spit on the Browns Logo, trashed our fanbase, and then was signed that very next season to a huge contract. You think you'd like him? Like I said, I am going to root for him to succeed because he's on the Browns, but you guys are crazy if you pretend like it's 100% possible to segregate your mind into only caring about the Browns or Buckeyes or any other team you follow. I can respect that Peppers is a Browns player now, and I'd never personally be the one yelling O-H at him, but I'm not about to love him unconditionally.

But this means you must love all Ohio State players unconditionally right?

I mean... it is?

I could give a shit that Peppers played at Michigan. If he's a good football player I want him here in Cleveland. Fuck, if he's making big time plays in the playoffs for the Browns I'll probably love him more than any Buckeye in the last decade.

Exactly.

I love OSU as much as anyone, but I'd have Tom Brady over for dinner if I thought he would help the Browns.

OSU has been dominating the Michigan series for a while. People need to put their feelings towards the logo. Also, Peppers signed up to play at Michigan, he needs to be able to take some of the ribbing in stride.

I've never heard of pro players having a tough time with fans from college because of a rivalry. Only in Ohio. Lol

It's a big O painted in the middle of a football field. It gets stomped on, trampled, splat on and probably urinated on during the course of a game. Let it go.

I am assuming your own bed gets stomped on, trampled on, "splat" on, and probably urinated on during the course of your weird shit, but does it mean you want me to come and do it too?

I agree, it's just a symbol on grass, but it is one of, if not THE biggest rivalry in football and sports. A player comes in and clearly disrespects a logo people are passionate for and love in their hometown? I can see why some people will be upset about it. Plus, you don't even know if those 2 dumbfuck Billy Bob's are Browns fans?

I am a diehard OSU fan and hate UM, but I was all about Peppers coming here. As long as he doesn't wear a "FUCK OSU" eye black on while he is playing, I hope he dominates and makes the city of CLE proud. He can rep the Wolverines every other day, but on Sunday I will be cheering him on and hoping for the best.

I was fucking stoked when we got Bogut and I despised him while he was on the Warriors

Team comes before any individual player (as long as they didn't murder anyone like Ray Lewis)

I am an OSU and Browns fan. I also support all Cleveland sports and essentially grew up on them. Living in NYC, I make every attempt to see a Cleveland team when they come to the city. Some of my most fond memories of my childhood were shared with my Dad watching and going to Browns, Cavs and Indians games. I'll never forget all Browns/Indians games I saw at the old Municipal Stadium.

With that being said, I could care less what a Steeler or Michigan player does to a logo or says about Cleveland. Honestly, a Steeler player could take a shit on the Browns logo at a midfield and wipe his ass with an OSU t-shirt one year and then sign with the Browns the next. If it helps make the team better and more enjoyable to watch - so be it. Im a fan of sports, but maybe not as hardcore as others. As I mentioned - I find it odd for people to take sports so personally. Winning or losing will not ruin my day, force me to drink heavily or even get into an argument/fight. That is just not my personality, because at the end of the day - it is all supposed to just be entertainment.

That is just my .002 cents.

People don't dislike Peppers because he went to Michigan. They dislike him because he is probably the single most overrated player in the history of College Football. His lack of production on defense was very alarming and is why many did not want the Browns to draft him.

With that said, he is versatile and he is an absolutely elite return man. He has the athleticism and the ability to be a good defender. From what we could see in the scrimmage (fuck that camera) he was, honestly, great. I saw him take one real bad angle (he did this quite often in College) but otherwise he had a good day.

If he's making plays on Sundays nobody will give a shit that he went to Michigan and was unbelievably overrated in college. Until then, it is what will be on many people's minds. It's just natural, it is the last time we saw him play. Fans aren't going to forget that just because the Browns drafted him.

This is the single worst hyperbole in the history of human interaction.

No. There are a lot of OSU players who do things that make me not like them. If they ended up on the Browns I would root for them to do well in our uniform though.

I'm going to root for Peppers to do well because I want us to do well. I'm not going to like him though, you guys are clearly better at separating your fandom.

May I ask how old you are?

Give me 53 Michigan players, I don't give a fuck if we are winning. Winning is likable or lovable with fandom.
