Rubio had a bunch of hype behind him. Cedi, not so much.

And Rubio has been what most people thought he would be. An excellent passer and great defender.

Rubio was the primary ball handler for his teams in Europe and so had the opportunity to demonstrate his best skills on a daily basis.

Cedi's game is far more dependant on his teammates, and Euro offenses to rely less on athleticism than on ball movement.

He's tougher to evaluate fairly than was Rubio.

I saw someone ask about Cedi's summer league availability, but I never saw a response.

So... does anyone know the answer? When do we get Cedi? I want Cedi.

Ricky Rubio is a top 5 passer and defender at the PG position. He's a starting PG on a 2yr/$28M deal and he's 26 years old. If Cedi has as much an impact for us as Ricky Rubio than that's a steal for us.
Well yes, with all that he is still somewhere in the middle. That's what I was getting at. With all the skills he already showed in Europe, Ricky is still limited and would be a good backup on the Cavs (shooting is still... lol).
Cedi is just not up there. And without major jump he is by that parallel near the end of the bench.
And don't forget we are not actually any good developing anyone. Which is stupid if you consider our approach (or lack of it) during the RS. It would be a lot better if Derrick,Shump and Kay (developing big?) got some major minutes and we would just switch to the regulars in the last third of the season. Give them some systematic and continuous play. The only way you can really get something out of rough talent and some Spurs like miracles.
But we don't do that and that is why I don't think wasting any value Cedi has on Cavs roster is a good idea.

Cavs Summer League starts two weeks from today.

Hope he is playing

I just watched his highlights.

If highlights don't impress you, you have a problem.

He looks like he's moving in slow motion. But so does everyone else. I don't know what to make of it.

Its just like, the plays that he makes would never even present themselves with 9 other athletes around him. And then he makes some threes with no one in front of him.

Yeah, not expecting him to light the world on fire. Below average TS of .529. Doesn't appear to be a playmaker at all, mediocre rebounding, limited shot creation ability.

I agree with dealing him before anybody finds out how "good" he is :chuckle:
