#52 DeShone Kizer

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Young Qb's take time. He's not finding the open guy and maybe that cant be fixed. He probably should have sat a year or 2.

Who’s the last successful NFL QB to get benched multiple times in his rookie season?
Don't know don't care. I wouldn't say he was "benched" vs Cinci. He was taken out because the game was over.

Call it what you will...he was terrible in that game, bad enough that he was removed from the game because it was over.

He goes through no progressions. He locks onto his man and lets it fly.

If he is "ruined" by being benched he wasn't the guy to begin with.
How does that help the situation?

Didn't say it helps. I actually didn't agree with it at all as I've said in another thread, but if you don't have the mental fortitude to handle being benched for shitty play then you don't have the mental fortitude to be a franchise QB in my book.

Him throwing Crow underneath the bus in the post-game presser was also not a good look. His pitch wasn't good.

The problem I have with benching Kizer mid-game is that it creates more infighting within the organization. Kevin Hogan isn't the answer at QB, his mechanics are horrible and we will see how the hitch in his throwing motion will lead to problem fairly quickly. Hue is supposed to be a QB guru and he already ruined Kessler in similar fashion. Hue's play calling hasn't helped a rookie QB.

Alot of Kizer's problems has been accuracy with short passes. The coaching staff should have seen this coming in the redzone when the field shrinks. We haven't seen any real creative plays other than the usual pre-snap motion that defense could care less about. As bad as Kizer has looked, Hue has put alot on a rookie QB instead of focusing on other areas of the offense such as the run game to help reduce the load on Kizer.

Pros: Strong arm, athletic, can move outside of the pocket

Cons: Holds the ball too long, takes too many sacks, no touch on deep balls, no touch on short routes, terrible audibles, turnovers in the red zone, 9 INT, 50% completion percentage, locks onto receivers.

Our receivers are hot garbage but he still has Duke, Njoku, and DeValve who look pretty promising and productive. The offensive line has been rock solid for two weeks now.

It's early in Kizer's career and I expect ups and downs. But where the hell are the ups?

Well since this is the third post pointing out the difference between Kizer and Johnny Cocaine, I'll clarify. Yes, they are very different people and I don't expect Kizer to flame out in embarrassing fashion.

Here's what's the same: Browns fans who don't value the role of the bridge QB. The dumb ass media who know the young guy is going to take over eventually, leading to articles with headlines similar to "Kizer taking steps to starting week one."

I saw him play a few games at Notre Dame. He seemed like the type of QB prospect who needs refinement. So I'm open to being totally surprised and Kizer fixing all his mechanical issues with a pass rush flying at him in year one, but I'm not going to count on it. He had a long long way to go last I saw him face an opponent.

So can I stop explaining why reps and experience aren't always the right answer for a young QB who isn't ready yet? I've had to do it for a few years now, and I haven't felt heard consistently.

Drew Brees.

So we gotta go back 15 years assuming we need to hit their rookie year.

It's funny...Drew Brees is the anomaly QB so many FO's asks their fan base to pin their hopes and dreams on for every shitty QB they draft that is lacking in some tool a QB should have in order to succeed. It's usually height or arm strength that they make up for with some other tool. Usually intelligence and accuracy.

We would know because we've gone through it over and over and over...

Considering where he was taken? Kizer wasn't a bad choice. You didn't really reach for the guy. The same could not be said for Brandon Weeden, and later, Manziel, Quinn. All three of those...in hindsight should not have been first round graded prospects.

The Browns likely passed on the "franchise/pro bowl" QB-type this year in favor of Garrett. The rest were..gambles. Gambles that were likely going to have to play with the worst receiving corp I've ever laid eyes on.

The discussion that is also not taking place is the fact that much like Teddy Bridgewater? Watson didn't want to play here.

Not saying he was a bad pick. Just saying he sucks.
