90’s/00’s players

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Favorite Indian was by far Kenny Lofton. My favorite non-Indian, who became an Indian, was David Justice. I'd also like to mention Jeff Bagwell. Playing baseball back in the day I use to use his batting stance, one of a kind.

Why did Baerga suddenly forget how to hit when he was 27?

Pedro. He was disgusting, making roided up monsters look like kids. Late 90s - early 2000s Pedro Martinez was probably the greatest pitcher in the history of baseball. I hated him for what he did to the Indians, but I couldn't deny that.

Barry Bonds. Sure he juiced but so did a lot of players back then. He was incredible. I haven't been much of a baseball fan since he retired.

I'll never forget Pedro walking in from the bullpen in the fourth inning of Game 5 of the '99 ALDS. It was tied at the time, but watching him enter the game, I think everyone knew it was over. I hated him too, but greatness is greatness.

Somebody answer my question about Baerga. You cunts keep mentioning him without answering why he magically fell off out of nowhere.

Not Brian Giles.

Waiting on that stupid fuck to be the next big thing prevented the Indians from getting an ace year after year.

They had a deal in place in 1998 at the deadline for RANDY FUCKING JOHNSON!!!

Favorite non Indian hitters was probably Frank Thomas. I liked Vlad. I have a soft spot for obscenely bad contact hitters who can just pulverize the ball so I liked Adam Dunn and Carlos Pena

Loved watching Jim Edmonds

I like watching Jake Peavy pitch a lot. I feel like he was perennially underrated on those shitty Padre teams

90s baseball was better than anything in sports.

I lived for baseball in that era.

I remember how fucking epic the all-star game was. The game was full of personalities. Randy Johnson throwing a wild pitch at Larry Walker at the all-star game was memorable.

Indians: Albert Belle, Kenny Lofton, and Sandy were my personal favorites.

Always had a warm spot for Dennis Martinez.

Non-Indians, Ken Griffey Fuckin' JR. My favorite. He made baseball really fucking cool. The sweetest swing I've ever seen.

Pitchers. I loved watching Randy Johnson pitch. He was fascinating to watch him. Some of the most wicked stuff I've ever seen.

Speaking of Baerga;I really appreciate Jeff Kent’s game as well (whom the Indians traded Baerga for basically)..

Wonder what could have been if he was the Indians 2nd baseman for those 97/98 seasons or even longer ? (Tho you wouldn’t have gotten that great year of Matt Williams in ‘97)

For as much as I liked Roberto at 2nd— perhaps if Kent would have blossomed as he did, they could have used that money to bolster the rotation ?

Why did Baerga suddenly forget how to hit when he was 27?

Cocaine is a hell of a drug.

He lost bat speed, and being a free swinger and never exactly in shape (yes i know round is a shape) his ability to make contact plummeted.

Re: Jeff Kent. Team would have had to pay him too, he had 5 years of service time when they dealt him to the Giants. They also never would have gotten Travis Fryman. I was bummed to see him traded- was excited they got him in the 1st place- but i also didnt realize what a flaming asshole he was. Not sure if he would have fit in on A Manny Ramirez led team...

My favorite non-Indian player growing up was by far Nomar.

But I'd lie if I didn't idolize Omar. In baseball I wanted to field everything bare handed. I wore 13. One time I was getting a cheese steak in tower city and Omar walked by, and I left my line and talked to him obsessively all the way to the stadium through the walkway.

Never went back for the sandwich.
