A Thread About Women

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

How do you feel about the recent women movement in America?

Well, there's a slight difference here. The Blaze is an openly partisan site with a particular agenda. If you got to work with them as an opinion writer, then it is perfectly reasonable for them to want opinion writers who support that agenda. If you don't, you're gone.

If you go to work for the Southern Poverty Law Center, and start advocating for elimination of the Voting Rights Act, they're going to fire you. That's not being a fascist.
Theres obviously differences when your position is detrimental to the company that hired you, but you are receiving punitive consequences for your thoughts and personal beliefs. I dont need to sell you on instances where thats hurt the right, its a preponderance of them. I dont particularly like the fact that my livelihood is at risk because of my thoughts in most institutions if divided into political hemispheres.

The difference is that your livelihood should be separate because it has nothing to do with politics. But if your livelihood is politics, then of course your political statements matter.

If you're going to work as a public face of the NRA, and start advocating for more gun control, of course they're going to fire you . They're hiring you to do the opposite.

Who decides when its applicable? I understand the differences in industries, but that certainly seems like a slippery slope.

People have a biological drive to have sex. Expecting them not to do so is ridiculous and stupid.

I'm a 60 year old virgin. It was easy enough for me.

Well, the owner/manager decides, but I guess I don't see the slope (in her case at least) as all that slippery. If you work for Planned Parenthood and tell people coming in that abortion is wrong, then don't expect to keep your job. If you work for the NRA and advocate more gun control, you're probably going to be in the unemployment line. I think it's mostly common sense.

She worked for Glen Beck's network, which has always been very vigorously pro-choice, and she essentially said that pro-choice conservatives were hypocrites. Not hard to figure out that wouldn't go over well. Beck is claiming that isn't the reason she was suspended, and it may just be that the backlash is temporarily toxic.

But look...the difference to me is if people are going after ordinary people because of their views, simply based on the idea that people with those views should be marginalized in general. Which means not just that you're going to lose one job, but that they want to keep people with those ideas from getting any job.

Too many so-called feminists politicaluting this thread.

I'm disappointed this is the way RCF has represented women on this board......

It's called personal responsibility.

Yeah... I addressed that... In that post... Like I mentioned it? I talked about how I land more on the side of benefiting society with policy rather than attempting to strictly adhere to some ideal of personal responsibility when it's less effective in practice...? Why did you reply to me with essentially nothing to do with my post? NVM more Trump memes please! They're useful!

I hope I'm personally responsible enough to curb global warming.

Thats what I'm seeing as a slippery slope.

We can both see how a writer for a publication should express views that the publication with an agenda wants communicated. But you've now justified taking away peoples livelihood based on their personal beliefs with an implied qualifier (the most extreme situationa where personal beliefs are in direct opposition to an organizations agenda, and being communicated publically) and im asking if that implied qualifier is disntiguished in legislation, or is that stance consistent and can i be fired from my teaching job for not thinking trump is a nazi. And do you support that?

To extend further, what is the distinction between discriminating based on religious beliefs or non religious beliefs?

None of this matters because this is a publicity stunt. Glenn Beck doesn't have a problem with her opinion on abortion. He's doing this to drive more traffic and so is she. This was brilliantly played by both of them and the left has once again been mindfucked by the right. It's funny...I do think that the left may generally be more educated than the right. But they've also been kneejerking so hard to everything the right has been doing during this last election and to Trump in general that something like what Tomi has done here is probably going to get her a handful of fans from the left.

And those that don't become fans will just continue attacking the shit out of everything she says and the people that follow her instead of ignoring all of them like they should.

Educated is a specific word, and its accurate if youre using it correctly.

How are you using it?

I think it depends on the degree. History/stem will lean right, liberal arts, hard hard left.

Better predictor (hoping this doesnt derail, just noting) is 1. Visible minority plus 2. Millennial makes up 81% of the left.

Liberals took over the institutions decades ago, these social science programs have been extended, its a leftist mill

To further parse, a lot of the educated liberals i believe youre generally referring to, have pushed away from the left recently (sam harris for example) because the left has gone more socialist/marxist and thats not what liberalism is supposed to be.

Theres also a high correlation in personality type.
