Addressing the hole at center

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I thought that same thing yesterday. At this point, is Sanders isn't an option, I wouldn't mind taking a stab at Emeka Okafor.

When you say take a stab at Emeka, do you mean poke him with a stick to make sure he is still alive?

Sign Sanders. Let him do a piece on mental health on Uninterrupted. Try and make his rehabilitation about not letting mental health issues affect you from being who you are.

Leverage that PR to buy calls from the NBA/Refs. No way in hell does Silver poo poo all over that.

Cavs in 6.

At this point I have to agree on Sanders.

I dont think the mental part is an issue on this team, the lack of basketball for 4 years is the issue, but he has 20 or so games plus a couple of rounds in the playoffs to get back in shape for the ecf and the finals.

I dont trust the option, but Eric Moreland isnt a better option and the list is pretty bleak.

Carl Landry, Jason Thompson, Josh Smith, Eric Moreland, Larry Sanders...only 5 I would even sniff right now.

When you say sniff, you mean smell those 5 to see if they are rotting corpses?

I can do this all day. :chuckle:

Scent of a rotting corpse is pungent, so Griff wouldn't have to do that much work to see if that's the case with any of those 5...we need that guy ASAP, so first one who doesn't smell of rotting flesh gets a deal.

I'm most intrigued by Sanders. We really needed a big body and both Moreland and Sanders are pretty frail for a C.
I have watched some full games of Canton and he has great defensive instincts. He kinda reminds me of a less athletic Nerlens Noel.
By that I mean, he has great active hands on defense, worse shot blocker but still kind a active and they are both pretty skinny for a C.

I would rather give Sanders a try because I'm not sure Moreland will do anything for us for this stretch run. We need someone with NBA experience eventhough he is a pothead.

Where's Sasha Kaun and Milan Macvan??? Lol

The old sports adage you can't teach size is very true. And in cavs situation its huge. Larry Sanders is 6'11 and has a 7'7 wingspan ( currently second only to whiteside)

He is a long athletic man. That in his short time at the top with the bucks he could switch on D like Tristan does because of his quick feet. Which is a huge difference between him and Javal "cinderblock" McGee.

What the Cavs need right now is someone to come in and give TT some rest because Frye isn't cutting it at center (I don't blame him, he is old and skinny)

He will need the rest of the season to get into basketball shape and reacclimate to NBA speed and lifestyle. But if he can get back to 2/3s of what he was 2 years ago he could be a really nice piece. Specifically, if he can get back to the point where he was switching on D like he was.

Chris Kaman

He did start 2 games this year for Portland, although he is just slightly quicker than a tackling dummy.

Why not replace a old, slow 7 foot white center with an older, slower, and whiter 7 foot center.

The sad thing is, I just don't know what you can realistically expect from Sanders. I'm a big advocate of bringing him eventually. Because I think the upside and vacant hole at the position going forward needs addressed.

But what does he do for this year? Not much, if anything IMHO. Not playing for years, knowing he won't be in NBA shape, and likely won't be able to contribute that much is still a likely scenario.

But, I don't really know what the Cavs should do. Maybe take a flier on Landy? (I know, nothing real exciting)...

Unfortunately the Bogut injury really fucked us. We are pretty much likely stuck with the Frye, TT, and Love frontline. Yes, they'll probably sign someone, I just doubt that person will have much impact.

I'm super bummed about Bogut but it is what it is, I agree that Sanders is the only option we have, we just have to take a chance on him and hope LeBron can fix his brain and force him to focus on the right things.

I still think Sanders is more of a next year project. So, I won't blame the Cavs if they don't bring him in right now.

The Cavs unfortunately don't have many options out there that's appealing. Wouldn't surprise me if they just don't do anything. Or just sign someone on a 10-day until Love is at least healthy.

I think we are rolling with what we got though pretty much.

Just sign Larry Sanders. We only need a guy to help us get through the regular season anyway, no one who is available is very likely to help us in the post season. Just sign Larry. I was excited about Bogut, but then I saw Kyrie try to throw a lob to him the second he stepped on the floor and he barely got off the ground, it made me cringe. I thought, 'Larry Sanders would have finished that'. I think it's worth it to give the guy a shot on a 10 day, see what he's got.
