Addressing the hole at center

I know that he probably won't want to play center again, but I liked the idea before of making a move at Al Horford like the rumors were saying, but I doubt we have enough to get him without giving up Dion now that we used the #1 pick.

Dion is the centerpiece in any trade that will net us an all star.

God I wish we could get Marc Gasol. Would be PERFECT here.

I'd settle for Pau, though.

I think we need a center who is more intimidating than Pau. Gortat is the only player I like on that list. He's got a decent mid-range game and can block shots.

So does anyone think Marc Gasol can be had?

Last I heard the Grizzles consider him their franchise cornerstone. They are going to make another playoff push next season and then just hope to keep him when he is a FA in 2015. If a lot of bad things happen and it seems like he might bolt then maybe we are in the mix but this off-season I consider him untouchable.

Any chance the Cavs look at Patric Young as an undrafted pick up? An undersized C he is, but I like what he brings to the table.

Unless we decide to just roll out with Andy, Zeller, and Powell, I think these are our 6-7 best options that could be even mildly possible.

A: Andy, Tristan, Haywood and a pick for Brook Lopez. High risk, High reward trade.

B: Dion, Tristan, Haywood, and picks for Horford.

C: Gortat. But he'll have multiple suitors, likes Washington, and would need to be overpaid to get him to even listen here

D: Pau: Not enforcer/protector, but not "soft". Still supremely gifted offensively. Would have to sell him on winning right away and overpay him on a 2-3 year deal

E: Frye: Like Pau, not a true center and not without multiple issues. Tall and can shoot threes, so we know he's at least on the radar.

F: Trade for a Denver center: They have Hickson, Mozgov, McGee, and now Nurkic(who wants to come over immediately) McGee they will probably give away at this point so he could be had for Jack, Hopson, and Hayward. Not sure how they value Mozgov.

Brook Lopez is a complete no from me. Too much money for a guy who's career is in a downward spiral.

Young Ben Wallace with more offensive potential...

Do you base this only from injury concern or from what you think of him as a player?

Also, I forgot to mention Hawes as a viable option, as it should be. Rim protector would be nice, but not seeing many of those out there and Hawes brings the type of offense and range coveted by Blatt and Griff.

Pau would really help get our offense going, very similar to the impact Hawes had this past year.

If he truly has that much defensive upside you pick him up no questions asked. I haven't heard anything about him though, is he really that good defensively?
