Addressing the hole at center

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Denver situation is intriguing. While neither is impressive they fit a need and might be easy to get.

Not sure if it is moral to inflict Javale Mcgee on David Blatt though.

If he truly has that much defensive upside you pick him up no questions asked. I haven't heard anything about him though, is he really that good defensively?

No he is not. And it's not even close.

Do you base this only from injury concern or from what you think of him as a player?

Also, I forgot to mention Hawes as a viable option, as it should be. Rim protector would be nice, but not seeing many of those out there and Hawes brings the type of offense and range coveted by Blatt and Griff.

Mostly the lower body injuries, especially with what this team wants to do. He's breaking down. As a player, he was decent. Not really a true pivot though.

He's not there quite yet, but neither was Wallace. His strength and athleticism do make him a really solid presence defensively.

Just saw Youngs DX prospect video and liked enough of it to be interested in picking him up at some point. the main concerns regarding him seemed to be lack of ability to stretch the floor, lack of size and defensive rebounding.

as far as stretching the floor goes, It wouldn't really be too important for us seeing as he would be playing the center position presumablý along with Kyrie, Dion, Wiggins and Bennett who are all capable shooters. since the video he reportedly grew an extra inch as well and is now standing at 6'10" though with a pretty short standing reach for a center. in fact it was the shortest ever meassured at the combine for a center. the extra inches should help him against the centers in the NBA right now and he is definitely strong enough to stand his ground it seems and it should probably also help him on the defensive boards. Blatt was apparently ruthless in teaching proper boxing out, and Young is being described as a great lockerroom pressence with a great personality so i can't imagine he would be refusing to take some of what Blatt tells him to heart and work on it.

I'm in, let's pursue Patric Young!

Do we really need an all star center?

It would be great if we could get one but a guy like Jordan Hill could fill what we need. Defense and rebounding is about it.
We already have plenty of guys who want to score and adding another player who is demanding touches just seems like it is a recipe for disaster.

A rotation of Hill/Zeller/Andy seems good to me and allows Andy to play off the bench and not play huge minutes so he can avoid injury.
With Bennett and Thompson at PF we have good versatility.

Andy combined with Zeller should be fine this year to fill the position. You have Young scorers all over the place now, they dont need a dominant force down low.

Don't think we need a Franchise Center to be successful as David Blatt has consistently created Championship level teams without an over abundance of talent. The point is that for the first time in a very long time, we a Cavs fans can enjoy a coach that actually maximizes the strengths of the players on the roster. Mike Brown was just simply awful at this. God I hate that man..

Blatt is so freaking awesome, that he can take a pair for 6' guards and combine them into a single 12' center !!!

But seriously, we are talking NBA here, not Euroleague. Coaching can tip the scales when games are close, but talented players still matter most.

You still need a guy capable defending the paint. We have none. That's the real concern.
