Addressing the hole at center

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
We've got money. Can always throw some cash at Gortat, who is a strong paint defender.

I refuse to explain Andy's situation with people who supposedly follow the Cavs.

Everything I've read about it points to the Gizzards being ok with overpaying him and then letting Ariza walk if things get out of hand.

Gasol
Horford

Gortat

whoever they sign I'm on board for the one they don't

Gaping hole @ the 5. Literally have no idea who we can get to fill it.

Really doubt Gortat or Gasol come here. Yeah we'd be willing to overpay for both but most teams pursuing them would be willing to do the same as well.

I don't see a way to fill this hole unless we part with Dion or AB (our most valuable, tradable assets) which sucks.

Trade for Mozgov. Since he is Russian, I can only assume he has European connections with Blatt.

But he's not Canadian, so I'm torn.

Pau would be a good get. More realistically over pay for Gortat. Unless it was a trade for M Gasol, don't trade for one imo.

I say you take a stab at Patric Young and see where it takes you. He seems to be a good fit considering what our needs are and he's intelligent and mature which makes him a great guy to have in the lockerroom

Pau would not be a good get. He's older and worse than Varejao. Don't be fooled by the empty stats he put up as the #1 option on a tanking Lakers team...

I have a feeling that Young will end up one of those guys who fans wonder how he went undrafted - not because he becomes a star, but because he puts together a relatively long and decent career while so many players from the draft fail to ever make any meaningful contributions in the league.

For literally years now, he's been THE college defender analysts use to determine how more heralded big man prospects will likely fair against NBA caliber big man defenders. He's bullied some big names in the paint in his career.

I wouldn't predict Ben Wallace-level defensive impact ever (although that's hard to reasonably expect from pretty much any prospect) nor do I think he'll ever be able to do anything more on offense than to catch lobs and get garbage put-backs, but he'd be an extremely cheap, low-risk investment on something we currently lack entirely on this roster (post defense), he wouldn't get in the way of any crazy roster moves we might have in the hopper, and I think his value even as just 5 hard ass fouls on a Drummond or Davis or Embiid (sigh) down the line makes him a worthy signing.

ANY chance at all we could be thinking about or planning on playing Tristan at the 5 at points this year......? Any?

We can't get Pau because his name is just the worst. I mean, "Pau"?

1) Patric Young is 6'9 and went undrafted. I know his stats aren't as impressive as they could be since he usually averaged around 26-27 MPG, but to talk about him "filling a hole" at Center seems a little silly. Zeller is 10 football fields ahead of him in that regard.

2) Timofey Mozgov looks like the next Asik. How can we get him? Does Denver love him, or is he attainable?

3) With Andy, you have two options: he is a 20 MPG backup. Or you start him, and take bets on the last game he plays before missing at least 15. I'd put my money on January 9th.

4) We can go after a guy like Gortat, but I'd much prefer not spending a ton of the cap space on a 30 year old center, when there are much cheaper garbage bigs available.

5) Whoever it is, it doesn't need to be a star, but it can't be an inept offensive player. A Kendrick Perkins type handicaps the Thunder, as teams can play 4 v 5. Someone who can score 10 PPG with a decent move or two around the basket is cool. But defensive, rim protecting, and rebounding comes first.
