Addressing the hole at center

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I would like to see what TT could do at the 5 for long periods of time. I think he could do it but who knows. I would rather sign Gortat than hawes if he is cheaper. Just dont really see the need in paying him big money to shoot threes and play zero defense.

I agree. Well, with the TT thing anyway. He plays more like a center than a modern PF. Not to mention his skill set is very much in line w/Andy's.

Why trade would they trade for Noel? theres a reason they didnt want him last year...Its not like done anything to change their mind

I would, too regarding TT playing the 5. He's got a much better set of teammates around him now than when he was doing it with guys like Samardo, Harangody at the 3 LOL, and Manny Harris/Lester Hudson/Donald Sloan...

I understand the Patric Young talk. I really do. He has the physicality of an NBA player. My hold up is how disappointing his career arc was at Florida. Remember when Pops was talking a few weeks ago about how the Spurs like to go after players who have shown the ability to improve themselves? Young is the antithesis of this. He is the same player now that he was 4 years ago.

They didn't want him last year because they were in a win now mode and picked on who's gonna help now instead of future upside. Look how great that worked out.

1) Patric Young is 6'9 and went undrafted. I know his stats aren't as impressive as they could be since he usually averaged around 26-27 MPG, but to talk about him "filling a hole" at Center seems a little silly. Zeller is 10 football fields ahead of him in that regard.

He meassured 6'10 at the combine and while his standing reach isn't impressive he is still enough of an athlete with solid defensive fundamentals that i think he could make an impact on the defensive end, if not for his ability only, then a mix of that and the personality he brings with him in team ball first, sacrifice on the court and overall being a swell dude with massive arms and a beard.

Gortat is at the top of my list now, I guess. I hope we do something or else I'm not sure why we didn't get involved in the Asik deal.

Love the thought of bringing P.Young in.

Hate the thought of relying on him for anything next year.

(Same goes with Khem Birch.)

I am back to jumping on that Gortat bandwagon!

Don't want to overpay Gortat. He has been a little up and down, and he's going to get paid like an elite center when he isn't. Tristan at the 5 is terrible. Who is going to start at the 4, Bennett? Undersized at nearly every position with no shot blocking. Sounds great.

Mozgov is probably my favorite idea so far as long as the asking price isn't too high. I'm also interested in Channing Frye. You are just hampering yourself by having two guards who want to attack the basket but your bigs aren't much of a scoring threat so their defenders will feel comfortable to help off. Also with undersized guards and Bennett, you could reeeeeally use some shot blocking.

and a bad coach that I think f--- up his head

I really don't think it is that big of an issue given we should have scoring at the 4 other positions.

As long as the guy at center can rebound, defend and screen, I don't see why we absolutely need a better player there. At least not in the short term.

I'm sure we have some sort of contingency for improving that position but it's not a pressing need IMO.

We still have a ton of assets, so it's really about waiting for the right opportunity.

I would ride AV and TT at the 5 for as long as I could and then dump them + assets for a bonafide option moving forward.

As long as AB develops, we have what appear to be longterm answers at 4 positions. There's a lot of teams that would take that at this point.
