Adrian Peterson indicted in child injury case

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yet another child abuse victim. This time with a scar to his head. Radisson Hotels suspends sponsorship for the Vikings.

The pictures from the first kid are horrific.

I bit my tounge on this topic when the first report came out, but the report about the second beating is absolutely ridiculous. In no way, shape, or form should an individual as strong as Adrian Peterson be laying their hands anywhere near a child's face/head and then go as far too leave scars and bruises. This should never happen, ever regardless of the individual. I bet the 4 year old really deserved it in the car when an NFL player as strong as an ox was physically abusing him because "he deserved it". This man is a coward and should be suspended indefinitley immediately. It does not take the justice system to show the NFL that Adrian Peterson is an abusive father who has physical harmed his kids leaving scars and bruises and looks to have a track record for it at this point. Take a stance and save yourself from another whirl wind of PR disaster, take him off the field.

My parents never beat me and I'm a real asshole, so it is possible Cashius is onto something...

You didn't get beat, X did get beat.

What does it prove?

Both methods can be ineffective.

Confession... While I knew about kids getting whipped as punishment and how it is still used (mostly in the south), the term "switch" was something I never heard until yesterday.

I wish that, when teams were asked why the re-instated these guys, they'd just say "because we want to win games" rather than "because due process."

This is actually my first time checking out the "Around the NFL" forum and glad to see a far more intelligent and better debated version of this topic than I've seen in other places. This AP story turned my stomach when I saw the pictures, but I always wanted to learn from others viewpoints on this as there's a bigger divide here than the rest of the NFL's story lines of the past week.

It's a more difficult decision for the NFL when it comes to the proper punishment for Peterson. The child abuse versus discipline would be a harder one to decide for many because so many parents (of all races mind you) still do result to some sort of physical punishment like spanking and "switching" (admittedly, I haven't heard the term before, but was aware of the punishment), and it's hard to place an authoritative stance over all parents on how all must properly discipline and thus raise their children. The way one of us is raised can be completely different from the next, and we can all grow up to be good, respectable people with or without beatings. With all the decisions the NFL has had to make recently, this is one I'd have the hardest time deciding because you're going to get a serious backlash if you're too harsh or too soft.

Roger Goodell completely butchered the Ray Rice suspension and he knows it, the cover-up made him look even worse. So if he stays as commissioner for this decision he pretty much has to be spot on and ready to address either the anger of the media who might immediately label it too soft or other players who've already back Adrian having being raised the same way finding it too harsh. No matter what, this will be a decision that'll piss off a great number of people.

Having a 3-year old son myself, I can't fathom ever spanking or whipping him to the point of drawing blood. I grew up getting spanked plenty of times, but my wife is dead set against using that as a form of punishment in our household and wants to always be politically correct about it. Even last week when our son was actually throwing books at other kids in his daycare, she had put him in a corner until he realized what he did was wrong, got sad about it and then made him hug all the kids and say he's sorry. Obviously being our first kid, you hope you're raising them right and he grows up to be the man you'd envisioned - but you can take 20 different parents and put them in that same situation and they might all go about it a different method.

I can't stomach the fact that an NFL player disciplined his 4-year old son until he was bleeding, and now finding out he's done it to another kid as well. It's appalling to me that he'd let it go that far and I personally would like to see a real harsh punishment. But again, I need to understand the environment and realize that was an approach a parent decided on. I think when you draw blood you've crossed the line, and I'd hope that could be the norm for everyone to comprehend to put a line in the sand. But it's eye opening to see how many would disagree with me.

The only pic I see from the first kid is a blurred face with a cartoon band-aid. What else is out there?

I'm a 31 year old white guy...

I had to go out and cut my own switch when I fucked up. And I inevitably grabbed a small one, and was forced to march back out and cut a new one. Usually, by the time I made it back with the 2nd one, I had cried my eyes out and the lesson was learned.

Twice I got hit by the switch. Once when I slapped my mom, and once when I stole something from a store. I was maybe 6 for both of them.

Got my ass paddled a few times too.

Nothing wrong with it. It's this lack of discipline that they were forcing down parents throats in the 90s that has led to this current generation of degenerate fucktards.

People have the wrong perception of our (my) generation I think...we are resourceful, intelligent, and by and large, have a full understanding of the "work hard play hard" mentality. School is more difficult and competitive than it has ever been, it seems that EVERYONE goes to college, and we are more tolerant and accepting of others than our predecessors. I can go on and on about this but this isn't the Millennial thread.

Had an internship last summer and absolutely blew everyone's socks off at the company. I was leading meetings with 12 MBA's, on the fly, without an agenda, and was more effective (I was told) than half the people who work there. I just started my 3rd year of school.

Seems like everyone in college has a 3.5+. You absolutely cannot miss a beat because another kid will pass you. Not to mention, kids are paying WAY more for school than they ever have before, forcing many to work long hours. My best friend pays full tuition, himself, without financial aid. Think about that. EDIT: and he has no loans either. Just cuts checks.

I was never beaten, hell, I was barely even grounded. But you know what keeps me motivated? Making my parents proud because I know how much they love me. Watch out guys, the millennials are coming.

I wonder what team AP will be playing for next.

That's the second kid.

I thought the kid with the leg injuries was the first kid (leaked to the media). The head bandaid kid is the same pic as the leg kid?

Where are the pics from the second kid to be leaked by the media?

The one with the leg injuries was the first kid. The one with his head blurred out and the bandaid on his forehead was a different (second) kid I thought.

I was introduced to the term "switch" while watching The Jackson's: An American Dream.
