Anthony Davis

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don't think the Celtics are in the game any longer.

If Davis gets traded, I don't think it'll be to Boston. That's simply too great of a risk.

What do you mean? Are you saying the Celtics wouldn't trade Tatum for Davis given the risk of not re-signing?

Yes. I think they realize Davis would be a one-year rental at that point; and sending out Tatum, a guy who has all the makings of a future star in the league, might be too much.

Also, consider the fact that the Celtics are blasting Rich Paul in the media, Davis' agent and James' close friend. I think they know they don't have a shot at retaining Davis because Paul may have told them as much, and now they're driving the salt truck since Davis was target #1 for Boston and has been for years.

That being said, if the Knicks trade for Davis at the draft, that makes it even harder for the Celtics to retain Kyrie in free agency; and if they lose Kyrie for nothing, that would set the Celtics title ambitions back tremendously.

So there's a lot riding on Davis' choices, and if he's crossed Boston off the list, but kept New York as a potential destination; then the Celtics have to be worried.

As long as the celtics don't get what they want and suffer as much as possible, I'm good.

From the ESPN article:

"We will immediately begin the process of restructuring our basketball operations department," Benson said. "This will include a comprehensive, but confidential, search aided by outside consultants to identify a new leader of our basketball operations, directly reporting to me."

Among preliminary possible candidates, league sources tell ESPN: former Cleveland GM David Griffin.

Well he actually got fired for not being able to put a competitive team around Davis.

Hopefully the next GM sticks to his guns and holds out for Tatum.
Exactly..although personally I never paid much attention to that team except for the name change(should be Albatross) and watching several games.
Plus Davis had been a quiet person up till now.
Outside of Cousins they really haven't done much.
Which brings me to my next point..Davis's claims now are that all 29 teams are on his list.
Really?
Might as well keep NO on that list, because all 29 teams can't win with him .
All 29 aren't set up to become winners if they get him , and most would still be in the same boat as the Pelicans.
He has to go to a team that is on the fringe of being in the finals if he really wants to win.

that's just his way of signaling he would go to the Celtics I think.

Personally, I’d rather see him go to Boston than LA. I’m more in the “as long as the Lakers don’t get what they want...” boat. Something about LeBron arrogance mixed with Magic’s shit eating grin that just pisses me off to the point where I’d legit rather see GS win three more in a row than AD go to Lakers and then get a chip. I do realize this makes me sound like a salty dog.

Brow fined $15k for flipping off Pels fan...the ugly end to his time there continues.

Griff with the pelicans? Weeeeeird move imo

I thought so too but I remember one of the reasons AD wanted out of the Pelicans is that ownership doesn't seem to care about the team. They also own the Saints and they seem way more into the saints than the Pelicans.

I think that was the appealing part to Griff. The ownership was going to leave him alone and give him complete control of the team. I'm not sure there is another team out there that ownership is willing to be so little involved.

I’m guessing the reasoning behind is he is real good at making short term fixes, and right now their goal is to keep AD but as we know he’s probably going sacrifice their future in the process, so let’s see.

They are also rumored into possibly wanting to sell the Pelicans so Griff's short term fixes makes sense on that front too. If he can get the Pelicans winning even like the clippers are, then they would be alot more attractive to bidders.
