Anyone getting the Switch?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This new Zelda game sets the tone for the Switch. It shows they are finally growing up to fit the standard. The game is that good that I can not stop thinking about it.

I thought the same thing about Mario 64 on the Nintendo 64. Then we got like two other good Nintendo games in eight years. :chuckle:

2? Lol I can name a few off the top of my head.

Goldeneye, Diddy Kong Racing, Wcw/Nwo Revenge, WWF Wrestlemania, WWF No Mercy, Cruisin the World, Mario Party's, NBA Hangtime

Those are just the games I played everyday after grade school with friends, and nights came fast. So I must've been having fun.

Most of those aren't Nintendo games. I was referring to first-party games. GoldenEye and (I think) Diddy Kong Racing were Rare. The wrestling games were all THQ. Not sure on Cruisin and NBA Hangtime but I don't think either were first party either. And while the Mario Party games were enjoyable, I wouldn't rank them as great.

The great Nintendo games I can remember on the N64 were Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, and Majora's Mask. You could probably add in Mario Kart 64, but I got a lot more mileage out of Double Dash, as it was our four player party/drinking game of choice in college. Maybe I'm forgetting something.

Smash Bros, Paper Mario, and Donkey Kong 64 you God damned madman

Holy hatred, Batman!

The Switch certainly has its faults and limitations (especially right now), but for what it is and what it will be it is a pretty cool device.

Yes, there should have been another quality game or 2 at launch, and yes, if you already bought Mario Kart 8 then that is a mostly worthless release. But Zelda is fantastic and is more than enough to occupy your time for awhile (there's also other smaller stuff like Snipperclips or Fast RMX that's good for a change of pace if needed, and a shit ton of people did not buy a Wii U and thus did not get a chance to buy Mario Kart 8 so it's not surprising that they would push it out again (don't be surprised if they do the same thing with Smash and Mario Maker).

Hopefully once we get to E3 we will have a much better idea of what the rest of the year is like for this system. It definitely seems like they pushed this thing out on a "soft launch" before they were ready so that they could have some good numbers before their fiscal year closes at the end of the month. So if by the Holiday season you have a great Zelda, a hopefully great Mario, MK8, Splatoon 2, a Pokemon and Smash game on the horizon, a bunch of cool indies, and an online system with virtual console then you'll have a far better value proposition than what's currently being offered.

I was always going to get one because it fits my lifestyle, so I can look past the flaws now. With so many other top games to play right now, I can see what others need the Big N to show more before they jump in.

Going to emulate Zelda in Cemu...

Kinda pissed off they have the audacity to release a console that can't even do 1080p, and even at 960p it regularly dips to 20 FPS?

Nah bro...

The console outputs at 1080p in TV mode, Zelda is just locked at the lower res for performance reasons. Also, I've been playing for a few hours and would classify the dips as irregular. They definitely happen when playing on the Tv (handheld is smooth and looks beautiful), but it's not game breaking.

Not trying to hate. Just pointing out that Nintendo as a first party company has generally only actually released a couple of great games per console cycle. And given that first party games are the main (only?) reason to buy Nintendo consoles, that matters.

Nintendo gonna Nintendo.
This. This is my big complaint with them is they always do this.

If you don't have a respectable gaming library out there then I'm not buying your system until you do when it will likely have a package deal anyway.

Why the hell would I buy this just to play Zelda and hope to all hell that they plan on releasing a new smash bros or Donkey Kong(especially since the "new" mario kart isn't even new?).

It just always feels rushed.

I'll just have to agree to disagree with that. Only started following Nintendo during the Wii days and have been enjoying their first party output ever since. When you say there's been 2 good games in 8 years thats hatin for sure :chuckle:

Anyways finally got my Switch a couple days ago. Zelda is fucking gigantic. 17 hours in and I've only (partially) explored 2 of what appear to be 9 major regions.

So I was looking at the gaming library and in classic Nintendo fashion of course they release the system with an extremely bare library of games. Why do they always do this? I would like to play Zelda, but I'm not going to buy a $300 system for 1 game.

And I noticed their mario kart for the switch is just mario kart 8 deluxe

what type of shit is that. I already have mario kart 8 for the wii U. Why on God's green earth would I pay another $60 for a deluxe version of it?

Nintendo needs to get back to basics and release some more quality games before just rushing to release a new system every few years.

The team that makes Mario Kart is making a new game called ARMS this spring.

Saying you just started following Nintendo with the Wii is like saying you just started following Microsoft with Windows 8. What rock have you been under!? :chuckle:

I have to disagree here. I mean the Wii-U had Dk, Tropical Freeze, Pikmen 3, Mario Maker, Bayonetta 3, SMB3DW, Xenobalde Chronicals, Mario Kart 8. That is all in the Wii-U. I am sure you are not trying to hate but it looks bad when you base a company on games you may have not played to make a point. Nintendo needs indie and third party support to keep it up. The first party titles are why we buy the systems. I am not sure what your point is here but people will buy quality over mass amounts of shit thrown at you. I do agree though Nintendo needs to do something and so far the indie support has me won over. The Blaster Master Zero game is awesome.

I do not care how any of you play BofW just do it... The game is that good. Form your own opinions but this might be the best Zelda or Link game of all time.

I mean, none of those games you listed sounds anywhere near the level of Mario 64 or Ocarina of Time.

And my original comment was in response to your comment that the new Zelda was some indication that Nintendo was growing up or hitting their stride. I was just pointing out that I've thought the same countless times, but Nintendo has really only released maybe one to three timeless classics per console generation since the N64.

Not to say there won't be other good games, but I'm talking classics on par with Ocarina of Time and, apparently (I haven't played it but reviews seem to indicate it), Breath of the Wild.
