There used to be a box in the preferences section of my profile that allowed me to block avatars, but I don't see it now. Am I missing it or is that function not available? FTR: No offense to anyone for their choices of avatars, I just prefer viewing the text content with as little visual distraction as possible.
As far as I know, it's not possible to block avaters at this time. Ben mentioned that he is hoping to develop a bare-bones skin for RCF without avatars, sigs and EAYOR but I don't think it's ready yet.
Could you place a large piece of masking tape vertically along the left side of your monitor screen? Doing my best to help those in need....
You can ignore people. Add them to this list: http://realcavsfans.com/community/index.php?account/ignored But you can't hide avatars of people you're not blocking.
Get Google Chrome and then install this: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/hide-images/npkjfnpmjehafgklcnnphlegdbbafafg?hl=en-GB Problem solved.
Exactly what I was going to say. Extensions work great because they can be turned off and on with ease. Use Chrome's developer tools, use image blockers, or install Firefox and disable images.
Thank you. Unfortunately that Chrome extension required me to hit the extension icon on every page visited to block images (it doesn't do so by default nor can you apparently set it to do so). However, I found another image blocker extension called Wizmage that does block by default. It replaces the images with a lightly colored box and doesn't seem to disrupt the formatting of the page. Also has an exclude function. Looks promising, we'll see how it goes. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
