Yeah, sorry, I came off unclear. But that’s exactly what I meant. He won’t behave passive aggressively, won’t constantly yell at the players, generally be an understanding coach, etc., but when he gets really angry, it won’t take going into yelling lunatic mode to make his point. A louder, unjovial voice will be all he needs.
So, basically, the anti-Gregg.

The great thing about Freddie's leadership style is that if it is done correctly, the people he's leading will end up feeling badly that they let him down. They won't forget how pleasant he generally is, and how nice it was to play for someone like that. And if he only gets truly pissed when they have really earned it...they'll feel like shit.

If you're at the point where your subordinates want to make you proud of them...you're in.

Was thinking the same thing - when coaches are respected, it makes all the difference - similar to that teacher you really respected but perhaps you turned in a half-ass paper one day and he called you out on it and felt a bit shameful.

Freddie seemingly keeps it real, values his players input and adjusts when appropriate based on it while remaining transparent with them. All things effective leaders SHOULD do. He just appears to do it naturally to a tee.

The best part of Freddie's interview, to me, was his answer when asked if the one's would play in the preseason. Freddie's answer was, "Did you watch Hard Knocks?" He then apologized to the guy who is either Browns PR or his personal media coach because he "shouldn't have said that." 13:50-14:20 if the video doesn't jump straight to it.

Just a not-so-subtle jab at Hue that was 100% truthful, but also something he knows he shouldn't be saying. Another real moment from Freddie.

The look on all their faces. They all knew they were fucked.

"I get to drive this bus."

Off a fucking cliff. What a dolt.

This is something that a lot of great leaders/coaches have in common. Tito Francona shares that same attribute for the Indians, and it’s why he’s one of the most beloved managers in the sport.

Freddie Kitchens still sounds like a Mississippi rapper.

It literally looks like they just learned that Swagger got hit by a car. Oh how far we've come in just one year.

If you would’ve told me at this time last year that the random dude in the middle of that shot would be our next head coach, I would’ve laughed my ass off.

Crazy what a difference a year makes :chuckle:
