Athletes You Have Met

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Josh Gordon discussion

Because no one cares about autographs. And I really hope your last post was a joke...it made me laugh.

Re: Josh Gordon discussion

One of the guy's I was going with works at the store he was signing at and that's apparently what he was told.

Bulletproof.

Either way, this isn't important to me.

Re: Josh Gordon discussion

Autograph seeking has been absolutely ruined for everyone. The people who track these guys down are beyond annoying and obsessive about these guys.

Not saying 3BGI is one of those guys, obviously, but it's like pulling teeth to get these guys to do shows and signings anymore for so many reasons.

It's just not about kids anymore.

Re: Josh Gordon discussion

Went with my mom some years ago to get a football signed at a mall by Braylon.

He was a complete and utter dick, didn't even acknowledge us when we asked for a picture, just looked at the camera for the flash and looked away.

That said, can I wholeheartedly blame him? It was a Perry Ellis-sponsored signing. The stores/brands make a buck on the players' celebrity status. The players, meanwhile, earn pennies compared to what their game checks look like.

It's one thing to sign a ball for one kid walking out of practice. It's another to sit there for two hours signing 1,000 footballs, being compensated very little, all the while the retailer and its brands get cheap marketing out of the deal.

The consummate pros and all-around good guys may do it willingly with a smile on their faces. I, for one, am not even sure I would be one of those guys.

These idiots would show up at the Ritz everytime a team was in town and stake out the mall hoping a player(s) would go out for lunch and bombard them to sign a shit load of items hoping to make a buck down the road. To top it off, they're rude and try and make the players feel like they owe it to these guys to sign whatever they push in their faces.

He had a signing scheduled in the mall where people could come and get autographs for 20 bucks.

So me and 3 buddies were going to go, and I bought us 50 fucking dollars worth of photos to get signed, and now he fucking cancels because he wants to get paid more

Completely lost respect for him

yeah...

Only autograph I have is from Sandusky's own Brian Bixler. He signed a bat, ball, card, and paper for me. The Tribe had him a few years ago, but I think he fizzled out in Triple A for the most part.

Clay Mathews when I was 8. He was huge and all I remember Is not to be scared of him.

I thought you were going to say your only autograph was from Jerry Sandusky...

Now THAT would've been a story.

I personally take more interest in meeting the athlete than getting their autograph. I don't want to be a rabid fan to them; I'd rather be as much of a peer as possible.

That said, I will stand in line for an autograph if my little cousins wanted it...

My Aunt used to clean their house, said he'd hoard stuff under his bed lol.

Was on a flight sitting in the row next to Delonte the day before he signed a contract with the Cavs. He was sitting with the guy from the Hot Sauce in ma bag videos.

Met Joe Frazier and his son at an autograph session. Have a great pic with Joe and his son pretending to punch me in the stomach.

Green Bay Hall of Fame linebacker Ray Nitchzke. Incredibly nice guy. I'm wearing his Super Bowl ring in the pic.

Was on a flight behind Willie Colon from the Steelers. Didn't look as big as I expected.
