austin carr

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Does he sound like a drunk?

Yes!

Is he a drunk?

Yes!

But does he make more sense when YOU'RE drunk?

Hell yes!

It's a mistake to have Fratello behind the mike... makes Austin sound even more useless than usual.

Lately i've just been watching the opposing teams broadcast. I do like getting the local Cleveland commercials for some stupid reason though, about as close to watching the game back there as i can get. Hopefully they've been having Czar guest more often to eventually just get to him full time and let AC go get hammered and watch the games at home.

What was the deal with Fratello on the broadcast? Was it just a one-off? He was really cool to hear.

Btw, I always thought RJ was going national pretty soon, but he'd be awesome in that spot too.

Btw, wasn't Carr supposed to retire like 2 years ago? I'm pretty sure i read that during the season and then just kinda forgot about it.

The last few seasons he has announced he is going to retire around April 1st but later changes his mind.

@Chardon

somebody please get rid of this guy. i have been playing and watching hoops for some time now, and austin carr is the worst color guy i have seen. i realize he's an x-cav player and people like him for that, but dam he is flat out awful. def not too bright, and it is time for the cavs to move on and get a new guy with at least half a brain to work alongside fred. i think to myself when i listen to the pure garbage that comes out of carr's piehole..fred must go home at night and think ..god dam ac is a friggen moron,, when am i going to get a new guy. PLEASE GET RID OF CARR so i dont haf to listen to the 4th or 5th grade level crap spewing from is incoherent mouth and brain.

carr favs

1.exactly (fred)
2.you're right (fred)
3.situation
it could be a drinking game every time that idiot says one of those. u'd be hammered halfway through the 1st Q.:bigcry:
4.and pretty much whatever else fred says carr just repeats. how does this guy still do the games?..unreal carr never makes a valid basketball point..its just crap, all of it.

also love when fred uses words ac has no idea what the mean.:chuckle: carr acts like he does and even sometimes says something so stupid...

could go on , but ill stop ...for now.

You probably are one of those idiots that was happy when Joe Tait retired.

As a new poster you basically just walked into someone's house for the first time and shit in the middle of the family room with everyone watching. You sure know how to make a first impression.

NBA season is a slog....having someone like AC may not provide the best possible technical assessment but it is entertaining. Maybe I'm in the minority but I can't listen to two people nerd out about basketball and get in to incredibly nuanced discussions as announcer / color man for my local team. I'd rather have more mundane conversation with an entertaining sound bite or two.

We all watch all the time. I don't need my color man to tell me things I already know. They just need to make the game and team I watch (all the time) more interesting.

I think national broadcasts require more nuance because you may need someone to offer up things you don't know. With the Cavs? I don't need someone who is going to point out Clarkson is a chucker......I already know that......I need someone to say "You can't leave the other Jordan! He's gonna kill you all night, just like 23! <Chappelle's Rick James laugh>." when he hits his first 3 after going 0-8.

You mean the Austin Carr Drinking Game which is a time honored RCF tradition? Get this weak shit outta here.
This will go on your gravestone:

The Man Called X
19XX - 2019 (tough year..ha)

Founding Father of the Austin Carr Drinking Game

Can we at least all agree that Fred gives the best "rubber rim jobs" in the NBA?!

Thing is...it shouldn't have to be either/or. A guy can be both entertaining and competent.

Reminds me a bit of the talk around Herb Score, though I do like AC better. Herb was fucking horrible, but there were people who liked him because he was "one of ours", or just because of familiarity. And if you criticized him, they'd act like you just groped their mom.

AC is more entertaining than Herb, but I'm still looking forward to a change.

Austin has some insight. He is not dumb, he is just a lot of catchphrases and stuff like that.

Fred actually does his homework. He's a bit of a hack and has some dumb catchphrases too, but he is more knowledgeable about other team's players than they are about ours. I hate hearing how ignorant other broadcasters are about other team's players, whereas Fred will say "That is something he added to his game, he is shooting 34% from 3 for the first time n his career." It's helpful because it means a guy who isn't known for shooting isn't having just a completely flukey night.

Also when the team is playing bad, our guys will criticize the players and talk about what they should be doing. When I listen to other broadcasts they are like, "Oh no. What's going on." I don't want to hear a fan melting down on a broadcast.
