Avengers: Endgame Spoilers Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I actually think Sam will be great.

Wilson's run as Cap in the comics was very well-received, and given the way the movies have played out he makes far more sense than Bucky to take over the mantle.

It just seems weird. I will have to see it to believe it, IMO. Sam isn't even close to Steve Rogers as far as a fighter and we've never seen him really shown him to be anything more than a background character. Maybe he will really surprise me and I will find it to be really a quality move, but it just seems like an odd choice.

I think you're confusing Wilson taking over the mantle of Captain America with him taking over as the leader of the Avengers, and being front and center. I doubt we get a Falcon Cap solo movie, but I'm very much looking forward to his spin-off series with Bucky on Disney+, and I'm sure we'll see him in future team up movies.

He's not supposed to be as good as Steve Rogers (even though he did kick some ass during the climatic battle in Endgame), but he's a great character in his own right with Mackie playing the role very well.

They're talking about the Thunderbolts too.

Maybe this version of Zemo, who I thought did well in Civil War, get's better tech than glue guns.

On a sidenote, anyway we think this movie passed $2.3 after yesterday? It was at $2.188 after Saturday night. Need to crank out as many dollars as possible before Pikachu comes in and racks up a few hundred mil.

should be well past that, the international totals lag a few days behind

This link gets updated as they are added

This link shows the date of the last update. As I post this, many international totals our old as many countries still have totals from the 28th and China only has a total through the 2nd. There has to be a few hundred million in already generated ticket sales currently unaccounted for.

I love that fight with Batroc.

I like Marvel and know more than the average bear but would consider myself a casual fan. I have not seen all 22 Marvel movies leading up to this one.

I thought it fell short. I think Infinity Wars was just so damn good that this one didn’t stand a chance. This was character development and tying up loose ends. Nothing wrong w that but not nearly the action ratio that I was looking for. This is clearly a subjective review tainted by my expectations.

Thanos was a great fighter without the rings. Like too good but that was awesome. I don’t know who Captain Marvel is. Pretty much the best way to watch this would be to binge on all of the 22 movies, in order, then go see it.

I was disappoint from the get go with Thanos being decapitated. I wanted to see him use the glove and do all kinds of incredible things at some point.

I never saw Antman but I thought he was a really well played character. I thought he would be corny, and he was less corny than I thought.

Captain America was cool but to me he is still a bit corny.

Couldn’t Dr. Strange just disappear through a warp portal w the glove?

Spider Boy was cool. I thought they nailed it by not making him too powerful but still badass.

Stark is always fun. Love that ego. Also loved how emotionally broken he was once he got back to earth. And loved the first scene where bow & arrow guy’s family just dusted right in front of him. Very sad and well done.

Thor was a disappointment. Him being a big chunk was funny at times but I just wasn’t feeling it.

Hulk watching Angry Hulk just gratuitously angry was awesome. Well played.

The daughters turning on Thanos was obviously a huge deal. I guess that was OK. I wish there was more to it - for the length of the movie it seemed very rushed.

Like many others, I would have to see iron man take the gems again. In fact, how Thanos wasn’t able to close his fist I would have to see again.

So great movie but I can’t say it was my favorite Avengers movie. I think I am just more in it for the action and ringed Thanos is probably the best villain ever. I also liked it more when he was doing all of this for the good of the universe. Once he got vindictive, I thought it cheapened him a bit. I guess that’s more like the comics.

As long as the hard core Marvel fans are ecstatic about this, I’d have to say it was a masterpiece, just not what I thought it would be. The numbers don’t lie either - awesome viewership! Just not my personal favorite, and that’s OK.

Obviously it's a different experience for someone like you who hasn't watched every single movie, so I'm fine with your opinions, but I'm confused on your comment about the daughters turning on Thanos.

Nebula had already turned on him prior to Infinity War, which I know you've seen, and Gamora (2014 version) was already plotting a turn on him as we saw in Guardians Vol. 1. Not sure what more development needed to be seen.

I forgot about that in infinity war.
I haven’t even heard of Gamora.
If it happened in Guardians, I also don’t remember it.

Nerd. :chuckle:

I've now seen Endgame 3 times and it seriously gets better every time.

I rewatched the whole MCU series back in the months before Infinity War came out, and have rewatched some of my favorites before and after Endgame. And I can personally, definitively say that they ended these first three chapters perfectly. They hit every note that I would have wanted, and there are so many perfect call backs to the previous films that bring things full circle. Just love it.

Looking forward to what comes next.

Speaking of what comes next, this is a fairly spoilery link, but this is a collection of supposed leaks of what is planned for the next couple phases of the MCU:

I just saw it for the second time.

While I thought it was a good movie, I definitely thought Infinity War and others were better.

I'll admit, the reason for this is because I have a strong dislike for time travel in movies/tv shows. I just don't like it. For example, I absolutely hated when Lost started doing it.

And...the first 75% of the movie completely revolved around time travel :chuckle:

Changing some of those past scenes was kind of cool though, I'll admit. I did love the final battle.

Awesome that Hemsworth apparently renewed his contract. He's been killing it since Ragnarok and I'm glad we won't be losing Thor. Kind of crazy that a character I never even remotely gave a fuck about in the comics ended up being one of my favorite comic book movie characters.

Looks like a lot of new characters and plots I'll have to learn about. I can dig it.

Still want my Dr. Doom.
