Rodney Hood: Won't be missed

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Actually, mitigating previous mistakes is one of the most important abilities of a good businessman. Mistakes will inevitably be made whether they are yours or others or just bad luck, so fixing them is as important as making the decisions in the first place.
I can’t disagree with what you said . Although 1 step back 1 step forward is no way to build a championship caliber team. Unfortunately in Koby’s short tenure this is becoming his MO. Fix his Kyrie trade at the deadline. Next fix the deadline trades he attempted to fix the Kyrie trade. Spinning wheels in mud. Koby will need to show several steps forward with very few steps back.

Lebron's gone. Odds of another championship are very low for the foreseeable future. If they can get back into contention it will be due to Koby's talent evaluation.

Altman has done ok this offseason considering everything. He gets an A in my book for not offering Fraudney a big contract. Hood is one of the softest players in the league IMO and I don't see much upside at his age either.

I have no problem keeping him, but at this point he is what he is. He’s not going to get any better.

Is it okay to say if they don’t get back in to contention it’s also due to Koby’s talent evaluation ?? How long does he get a free pass ?

Kinda depends on if there are still super duper teams around. Odds that we have a future top 5 player in Cedi, Zizic, or Young bull are low I think, but all three could be pretty good and that doesn't make the Cavs a contender.

He's had one late lottery pick and looks like he hit on a late 1st in Zizic and a 2nd rounder in Cedi. We'll know more at the end of the year with Collin and their development.

I think you are jumping the gun, but yeah trading Kyrie sucked. We all knew it at the time and it actually got worse.

No one has offered him anything. If he takes the qualifying he will be a pissed off player. And why give him
Mins
Is a sign and trade possible. ?
If not I would rescind the qualifying. No loss

Restricted free agency and QO's are both intended to benefit teams by bringing pressure to bear on players. "Sign a reasonable longer term deal, or you're will be forced to play under the QO. Free agency isn't an option."

What the Cavs do with Hood will be noticed by other players and agents. Withdrawing the QO and making Hood a free agent because we worry he will be unhappy is rewarding him for playing hardball. In terms of negotiations, it means we blinked.

Other players and agents will remember that, and may assume we'd cave in future negotiations with them. Koby needs to hold firm on this, and keep him regardless. If he sulks...he's only 1 of 15 guys. Let him rot.

I am so curious as to the contract he wants. Is it really 15M? What does he get if he stays with Utah last year?

So who thinks the Rodney Hood situation is not resolved by the start of training camp, Sept 22?

Best case scenario is that he holds out until after October 1. We can then withdraw it but still keep his rights. That would enable us to sign him to a short term deal and still trade him.

Would not object to a sign & trade to one of the teams that were interested in signing him. Chicago, Sac, New Orleans just to name a few. If we could get a good young player or two back I would consider this a positive.

Anything that ends with (1) Hood traded for another young player, or (2) re-signed for cheap is a win.

He's not worth much at all.

Nobody is giving anything of worth in a sign and trade. You'd be lucky to get a second rd pick, but nobody made an offer on him, including the Cavs. He's damaged goods.

You can easily repair the rift with him, IMHO, however. He was completely misused in the LeBron system. He needs the ball in his hands to be successful. He is a scorer, and LeBron made him become a spot shooter. Put him on the floor with a legit PG who will allow Hood to create on and off the ball, and he will be a 20 ppg player. He doesn't mesh well with Sexton, but Sexton is perfect to be getting buckets on the second team. Hill, Hood, Osman, Love, Nance would be a great lineup offensively. Let Hood/Hill run pick and rolls or pick and pops with Love and Nance. Fun team to watch (on the offensive end at least).

So Sexton should be coming off the bench in order to better develop Rodney Hood?

Not sure I could possibly disagree more.
