Bradley Beal

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Is beal really a possibility? Seems highly unlikely. Am i the only that thinks he might be the perfect SG for us?

I've thought this since late-2011

Just seems no reason for Washington "blow it up", sure they need to figure out a better mix of players, but getting rid of Beal seems stupid for them.

I guess the thought behind them possibly being open to shopping Beal is that with him Wall, and Porter locked into their contracts it doesn't leave them much flexibility to improve the roster.

They might want a soft rebuild around Wall, who is locked up for 6 years, and avoiding the luxury tax while gaining the Brooklyn pick, plus someone like Cedi might be an attractive package.

Not saying it's likely, but with Wall going down for an extended period, and the Wizards appearing to be a perennial 4/5 seed even when healthy, they might be looking to shake things up.

I at least hope Cavs make a call to Wizards and just present them a offer worth considering centering around Brooklyn's pick + our future 1st protected, and Cedi. I don't give a damn. Beal would be worth every penny.

It could look something like this:

Cleveland sends JR, Shump, Cedi, Brooklyn 1st, Cavs 2021 Top 5 protected pick (this is obviously for eating JRs money)

Cleveland gets Beal, a wonderful piece.

Washington will listen, especially when you talk a Cavs future pick knowing LeBron could leave.

This would be a pretty ballsy trade, but Beal could definitely keep LeBron around.

Yes, this is what I explained in the OP. @Lee

They could maybe, MAYBE, trade Porter instead...but his contract is so outrageous for his production that they wouldn't get any value in return. If anything, they might even have to give up additional assets to get him off their books.

Wall obviously isn't going anywhere due his mega extension kicking in in the Summer of 2019 (and especially now due to his lingering leg issues).

That leaves Beal.

In short, it just doesn't make sense to keep the trio of Wall, Beal and Porter...given their salaries. This Wizards team peaked last year.

Whether they make a change now, or in the Summer, or next deadline...I don't know. But a change to that core is coming if their management/ownership cares about paying notable luxury tax every year for a team that will never come close to winning.

Love + BKN pick + Cedi + Crowder + Frye for Beal, Porter, and Mahinmi...

I see no reason the Wizards wouldn't do this. They could go into the tank for the second half of the year, and build around Wall, Love and TWO lotto picks.

Taking on Mahinmi would give me pause, but I love the idea of LeBron, Beal, Porter and whatever point guard you can get for IT.

I think we're giving up too much, here, to be honest.

Also, one of JR, Shump, TT would need to be in this to make the salaries work.

Actually that's exactly my point; i.e., we have the assets to get a deal like this done if Washington wanted to do it. And there are compelling reasons for them, for instance, if Washington could be convinced this was the best solution for them to do a mini-rebuild around Wall, fix their locker-room issues, avoid the repeater tax, etc..

I went over this trade in the fantasy thread; pretty sure I had Joe Johnson going to Washington and getting bought out since he's basically a $10.4M expiring and Shump going to Utah.

Love, Cedi, Crowder, JR, Shump for Porter, Beal, Mahinmi works for the salaries.

I think the Cavs should be all in for Beal.

Still just 24. Gour's trade to me is a no-brainer. If Washington would do that.

I'd say, hell yes....
