Breaking: Joe Paterno is still dead

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The first four pages were a total downer, rehashing the damn Sandusky issue for the fifth time. I like the avenue we have explored, starring Joe Pa in some kind of Weekend at Bernie's III.

Sandusky looking back on Joe Pa

"Truly, he gave me a place where I could reach my full potential?not just as a coach, but as a man," continued Sandusky, his voice cracking. "So many of my accomplishments would not have been possible without him and the unique atmosphere he created at Penn State."

Paterno and Sandusky enjoyed a relationship stretching back almost 50 years, with each helping the other to pursue his passion. Sandusky said that while it was true the two men harbored different dreams, aspirations, and desires, Paterno was careful never to stand in his way. In fact, he affirmed, Paterno's wholehearted attention to the overall success and reputation of Penn State football allowed Sandusky to focus on building his own legacy at Happy Valley, where he was always able to go after what he wanted most.

:chuckles:

LOVE THE UPDATED THREAD TITLE BY THE WAY

If anything, we're now finally past the grieving process and are now enjoying what made Joe Pa what he was. A dedicated leader who wouldn't let a little case of the runs stop him from doing what he loves... And in the end, isn't that what we all want to be remembered as?

EDIT: i wrote this while taking a shit on the toliet, I hope one day I'll be the same man Joe Pa was.. Just not yet..... Just not yet.....

This thread is too dark and murky. The man deserves to have his life celebrated, and you're just splattering all his achievements against the wall. Stop squeezing out these stupid stories and show some respect.

I am NOT going to waste my time reading everything in here - I have heard it all at this point. I am sure there is some good and some bad. Here is my opinion - take from it what you want.

(I met Urban Meyer today - briefly - great guy, clearly was shaken by the loss of Joe. Told him good luck next year and (jokingly) to stop taking our recruits. Good stuff.)

The biggest annoyance with the scandal in terms of other people's opinions comes from within my school. This was my response to kids fighting over pro-Joe and negative-Joe discussions. Just how I feel in a nut shell:

Joe literally said he could have done more - and looking back on things, he wish he had. Anyone that fails to see his mistakes, are completely delusional.

However, that is the fault of, well I guess, us for putting him up on this holier than thou pedestal. We viewed him as a perfect man, when in reality he was just human. Which is something he has said all along.

Joe played a part in tarnishing the Penn State name. No where near what the others did, however. So he should not by any means be the fall guy - and really, no one in the media has made him to be one. It has just become some mindsets in the Penn State community to claim that they have. So, yes, it has hurt the name - but I REALLY don't think it will affect things too much. All of that was blown out of proportion in my opinion.

At the same time - however, I think people fail to realize it is HUMANY POSSIBLE to be a man that has done many amazing things like Joe, but at the same time still have faults like Joe. You can have both sides of it - and that is what people need to accept. Joe's legacy carries what he did NOT do, but it will, and can also carry all the amazing things he has done. It goes both ways. While that name may be tarnished - it wouldn't be at the level it is without what he has done to make this University such a great place.

So you can be grateful, and disappointed at the same time. He is human. We are human. The idea Joe pushes was for us to become better people, and learn from mistakes. Take the great things he gave us and grow, and do the same from the mistakes he made.

Very well said.

I'm absolutely positive the past three pages are unique and original discussion about Joe Pa.

Touche - and if you were mainly referencing the weird shit, then you were right haha.

Total side note - weirdest shit of the week was driving down the street where the line for the viewing was and almost hitting Billy Baldwin. Still can't explain that one.
