So if it isn't clear by now I think it feels like Hue is on a very short leash. Like he can't afford to get off to a slow start next season short leash. That's why I think they are looking at an OC who can call plays because in the event that they fire Hue but keep Gregg Williams I could potentially see them just promoting Williams as interim HC and giving the offense to a guy like Ryan. Could probably promote one of the Defensive Assistants to DC.

Look. Gregg Williams has been a little disappointing to me since he's been here but I think we could skate by with him as interim HC as long as we have a solid guy running the offense.

My prediction:

Hire Offensive Coordinator to call plays (Sean Ryan)
Hue gets fired less than 5 games in
Gregg Williams promoted to Interim Head Coach
Clyde Simmons promoted to Defensive Coordinator

Head Coaching search in the offseason.

Being real? This is the best group of talent evaluators you could ask for.

You're not getting Belichick, Ozzie, Colbert, or Dimitroff out of their respective franchises.

But? This feels like how a legitimate NFL franchise would have it's front office set up and it feels like these people are very good at what they do, let alone competent which is something the Browns have been wanting for a long time.

i feel much better with having these guys pick the next QB. Hue might have a say, but I know these guys will ultimately call the shots on the guy.

Such a waste of time keeping Hue around...and having Gregg be his replacement is just laughably stupid. But, Browns.

Of course it's stupid and nobody wants it but Dorsey is smart enough to have a plan in place. he has to be prepared to act if Hue is fired early. That's why having an OC who's calling plays will be very key if you promote an experienced guy like Gregg Williams to HC. The offense and the defense won't have to be altered much in season. It's not like if you fire Hue 5 games in you're gonna hire a new Head Coach during the season.

You damn well know if Gregg becomes HC he’s making his kid DC.

Firing up the Wolf pack.

I was thinking that but then I though Gregg is an experienced enough guy to know it wouldn't go over well to promote his son over a more qualified candidate. Could also become a distraction.
