Browns rant thread.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
To be fair injuries were a huge factor with Kessler and RG3. With Kessler there seemed to be an issue with him not going downfield the way Hue wanted him to but who knows, and Hue had McCown to step in which was also a factor.

I don't know if Hue's strategy is the right one, I'm just saying I can understand what he's trying to do. I don't agree that you just keep trotting a guy out there and never pull him off the field if his performance is directly causing us to lose games. That would be the quickest way to have the whole team quit on him. Hue has to keep trying to pull strings to give us a chance to win and that has driven his decisions.

I think the light will go on for Kizer at some point. Hopefully sooner rather than later. The season could look a lot different once that happens, as long as the team keeps playing hard for Hue.

I want to see some continuity and I don't see how changing coaches every 2 years gets us anywhere. But it is certainly a valid argument that if Hue completely fails to make Kizer into a reliable quarterback, why would you let him be involved in the next go-round? So I can agree that Hue's status for next year is probably tied to Kizer's development, as much as I wish for continuity.

I want continuity too. I really hope Hue goes to the front office to go look for a OC to give play calling to or promotes someone to do it. His time could be better spent coaching up Kizer on the sideline than playcalling and making adjustments. I really think that's the reason he is pulling him. Hue just doesn't have the time to coach him up till after the game. With 9 games left I think Hue can salvage his job by giving up playcalling and adding QB coach to his job description.

I think Hue should delegate the play calling as well.

I think the front office might need to prod him on this.

We have front row seats for what could be the worst NFL football team in league history.

I am not sure what else there is to talk about.

You mean 3 time pro bowler Andrew Luck?
You mean "Went to the playoffs in his rookie season" Andrew Luck?
You mean "led the 2nd Biggest comeback in NFL Playoff history" Andrew Luck?

Luck may be down for the count for a bit, but make no mistake? He's a damn good QB.

Wentz is a good player. I will give you that. He's likely making the playoffs, and will likely be in the Pro Bowl. But he's still got a bit to go.
What the fuck?
In the words of sportscoach

Me and Los don't agree on much so when we are on the same page the Supreme Court of RCF has spoken and all other opinions are invalid lol

But really Wentz wasn't a can't miss and again, I can't stress this enough, he still has a long way to go before he is annointed. It's actually kind of funny that someone said he's better than Luck because that perfectly illustrates the point a few of us try to make on here that people fall in and out of love with young QBs and are so quick to annoint/condemn them

Luck was appointed the single greatest QB to ever breath like 2 years ago by just about everyone. Browns fans held resentment towards Indy for their blatant tanking to get him and the Colts were looked at as the next super bowl representative for the afc

But now, of course, 20 games into his career where at least 10 of those games were putrid Carson Wentz passed him up. Because he's been shinnier lately.

Same thing going on with Mariota. Seriously look at the heat index on some of these young QBs. It's amazing how fast they can go from first ballot HOFer to "he was always overhyped"
Ok, ok, I was posting a hot take and I got carried away.

I don't truly believe Carson Wentz is currently better than Andrew Luck, nor was he the prospect Luck was coming out of school--so that point clearly stands.

However, I think Carson Wentz has a chance to have a better career than Andrew Luck--which is a hot take. Throwing shoulder injuries scare me, and Luck's was severe. He's also struggled with health for big portions of the last few seasons. He puts up stats, but throws some really stupid interceptions. Would I take him? Hell yes I would. I'm just saying, I think the sky is the limit for Wentz.

Carson Wentz currently has a 99.1 passer rating this season in his 2nd year. Andrew Luck's highest season passer rating was 96.5. There's a ways to go, but don't act like Wentz doesn't have a chance to be a stud, too.

The good news is I'll be able to attend another game this year for stupid cheap. I went last year on Christmas Eve to witness their lone victory against San Diego. Dawg Pound tickets for $15 a pop.

I missed part of this drama.

So when does Kevin Costner come in and fuck up our draft so he can over pay and move back up to take a player he just passed on? IE the exact opposite of Metrics.

Again I just look at this franchise and it literally saddens me the state it is.

ESPN said that Joe Thomas was a figure for this city as something that you can kinda "count" on despite the constant turn over with this franchise.

It truly saddens me that we're 0-7 and it's being implied he's considering retirement. I just want something done. I'm not saying fire or cut anyone, but what I am saying is you have to try to find some way to get this thing better because...this is probably the lowest this franchise has been morale wise since 1995.

How does anyone...past and present in the coaching staff or front office not feel a great deal of shame right now for what's on this field? The product is a joke. It's not NFL Football. This is the type of team that would be playing in NFL Europe back in the day.

Enough. Get this fixed. I've already resigned to the fact that we're finishing 0 and 16 at this point. You get this thing fixed. Any IDIOT that says they need 4 years to build this team? Seeya. No more. Get it done. Get this fixed. I'm willing to accept someone shooting high and just missing it. I'm not willing to constantly deal with this level of awful.

Any truth to this story about kizer being at a bar Saturday morning 1am-ish?

I can see why Hue would pull him yesterday after his normal killing TOs. Not that I condone a 21 year old drinking, hell, we've all done it. But in kizers position, as a potential Franchise QB? I don't like it during the season on the night before walk throughs.

Edit: this is the rant thread.........hey kizer, wanna drink bud? Win a game

I think it’s kind of entertaining seeing how bad it can get every year.

Each year the team hits a new low and something more ridiculous than the previous year happens.

Guys injuring themselves on footballs, the owner getting investigated for scamming people, passing on future pro- bowl QBs year after year, using record numbers of QBs every year, Weeden’s flip pick-6s and the American flag incident, McCown’s 360 spin injury in game 1, the Ravens blocked FG- TD, all the crushing red zone TO’s...

Like...this kind of stuff is honestly funny to me. It’s kind of entertaining to root for this shit at this point.

Hall of Fame LT Joe Thomas retiring before they can trade him to a Super Bowl contender would be very Browns-y.

Sir, step back from the ledge — we can work this out, I promise. Come back from the ledge and we can Just talk, ok — how does that sound?

There is hope — I promise you that.

The success of Wentz and Watson combined with the sheer amount of suck over the past 3 years will be what winds up seeing Hue, and Sashi canned.

Whether they would have been successful here is up for debate. BUT it's a level of bad that is Ted Stepian Cavs-esque.

Stepien believed he had some kind of special gift for predicting basketball talent, and it was this arrogance which lead to him making horrible trade after horrible trade. Technically Don Delaney was the teams GM, but he was acting at the behest of Stepien. In early 1981 the Cavs made their first of many notable bad trades when they traded a 1984 first rounded to Dallas for Mike Bratz. The Mavericks would be the recipients of many of Cleveland’s first rounders. The Cavs also traded them first rounders in 1983 and 1986 and received mediocre talent in return. The 1984 pick is especially notable as the Cavs could have drafted Charles Barkley or John Stockton. The Cavaliers also traded their 1982 first round pick to the Lakers and because of the Cavs struggles that year the pick ended up being #1 and the Lakers added James Worthy to a team that had Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Carson Wentz is so good. Wow. I’m glad the Browns didn’t take him. He would’ve never turned into this great of a qb. He’s top 5 qb for the next 15 years.
