Browns trade Kevin Hogan to Washington

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
We pick swapped in the 6th round. Don’t act like this is some victory.

My point was that everyone already knew he wasn’t going to make the roster. Everyone. Thus, teams knew we had him on the market for literally anything.

His “trade request” wasn’t about helping Cleveland put it out there as some have stated. It was about Kevin Hogan.

I was making fun of the fact that he “requested a trade” from the team before we even had a chance to use him as another arm at OTA’s like he’s not lucky to be in the league.

I had more issue with the trade request than I did anything else. I found it hilarious, actually. When anyone bad at his job starts making demands while on the cusp of being fired, it takes quite the gall really.

You lost on this one, dude. His request -- which meant that he didn't want to just be a camp arm -- made sense from his perspective. And the Browns being able to move him for anything in return made sense from theirs.

I agree with you 99% of the time. This is that 1%.

I wasn’t even sure I was out on some limb here until I saw myself double quoted from a previous thread and a mess of disagrees.

I mean, it’s no big deal. It’s the fate of Kevin Hogan we are discussing. And we’ve likely spent far too much time on it. I’m glad we got something for him, of course, no matter how small.

I mostly was pointing out that it was funny he requested some trade instead of asking to be released.

I also was directly responding to an AZ statement that he was doing this as some favor to the Browns. I disagreed and was saying that he’s doing it for Kevin Hogan. This is from an entirely different thread and earlier in the week.

It’s well within Hogan’s right to do so, of course. You have to look out for yourself in the business. The fact that he was successful also ended up serving the Browns.

I just don’t understand where there’s this notion that his initial trade request was some favor to Cleveland.

Why are you so butthurt about Kevin Hogan?

If it’s me you are referring to, you can reply to me or tag me.

But I’m not. I really don’t care about Kevin Hogan.

What I was not happy with was seeing myself double quoted by @AZ_ from an entirely different thread, targeted, and replied to with yet another one word or one gif statement that says nothing over... Kevin Hogan.

My original comment was from the moment it came out that he requested a trade. I simply found it funny.

Next thing I know, I’m on some Anti-Hogan hill that I never had any intention of being on.

It just happened so fast...

Ah, now I get it.

My sympathies.

This thread, much like Kevin Hogan's NFL career, has run it's course.

Always thought this motherfucker's name was Paul? Well, Paul or Kevin, or whatever the fuck his name is, Hulk, Brooke, he can go limp dick around in our nation's capitol now.

Giving the GM credit for moving up 15 spots in the 6th round in exchange for Kevin Hogan is like spending $200 on parts for your old car so you can sell it on Craigslist for $800 instead of $600. Maybe our GM has a ton of free time on his hands right now, with FA winding down and the work for the draft probably done, but to me its all moot. I frankly just don't care.

Well, you cared enough to post, which is probably how much time it took Dorsey personally to do that deal. And your math is off -- it's like spending $200 in parts so you can sell it on Craigslist for $900 instead of $600. It's a free hundred bucks. Or, $100 extra in lottery tickets. Maybe get you nothing.

On the other hand, Tom Brady was drafted #199 overall. Which means he'd have been there with the 188th pick, but not with the 205th. Bottom line is that I'd rather have #188 than #205, and this is exactly the type of attention to detail you'd want to see with your GM.

At the end of the day it was actually more of a win-win for both parties so thats all that matters. (Also a good PR move as well). Browns move up in the draft and Hogan has a chance now to make a roster. We got a plus from a guy who we had on our practice squad originally so him requesting a trade helped us. Morally, yes he shouldn't ask in a sense, but at the same time it is a business from both sides and this was the best business move for both parties. Does anything else matter?

Wait there are people not happy with the deal? You guys are something else. Guy will be out of the nfl in 24 months or a third stringer for a few more years then coaching somewhere. Geting anything is a good deal. Moving up 15 spots in the top 200 is a good deal. Hogan was going to be cut 100 out of 100 times.

I don't think anyone is upset that we actually managed to get something out of Kevin Hogan.

But yes, this thread

It took me about a minute to type that post- pretty sure it took Dorsey longer.

And I can't wait to see who they take in the 6th round, since apparently it is the 'Tom Brady' pick according to you. Again, this was alot of work for, well, nothing. But so be it.
