Cavs 16-17 Super Team

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
still can't beat you know who

they ruined everything

Would rather have Damon Jones, Eric Snow, Ira Newble, and Donyell Marshall.

They just need to trade JJ Hickson for Amare. Get off your hands, Ferry!

I'd take a Irving/Paul swap at this point... Kyrie just doesn't play team ball and I know he's not as hungry for a championship as Paul is. Kyrie's one of my favorite players to watch but I'd trade his ass in a second if it would better our chances at a championship.

If you want Paul, you can't just give them Kyrie. 7 year age difference or not, Paul is significantly better than Kyrie by basically every logical and statistical measure, and 30 really isn't that old, especially considering Paul is still playing at a near-prime level with no signs of dropping off. It's not like he exactly relies on athleticism; that IQ will still be there when he's older. The Clippers may be looking to restart this summer, but they're still not going to move CP3 unless a good offer is made, and if all we're giving them is Kyrie, some other team will put together a better package than that.

A Paul-LeBron PnR would be basically unstoppable. With Kyrie-LeBron, while Kyrie is a great shooter (normally at least), he isn't a good enough passer/decision maker to fully take advantage of a rolling LeBron and shooters out on the wings if he decides to drive in and collapse the defense. With LeBron-Love, defenses just switch every time, and the mismatches it presents aren't as significant as many imagined. For one, Love has looked weak and unathletic, which makes it easier for smaller forwards to contain him. And a PF guarding LeBron isn't that much different than the SF that usually guards him especially with the way the league has drifted towards small ball. However, a Paul-LeBron PnR would be as deadly if not more so, IMO, than the Curry-Green PnR. Paul and LeBron are both absolutely elite passers who are fantastic in the PnR. Paul can shoot the lights out and LeBron is a freight train barreling down the lane. If LeBron could somewhat find his shot, the play would literally have no weaknesses.

I highly doubt that.
It's really not that hard to believe. It's Chris Paul. He's still a top 6 player in the NBA. Even if another team doesn't offer a better package, LA could always just hold onto Paul. Remember when this forum was so convinced we wouldn't have to give up Wiggins for Love because he had only one year left? Well, Paul may be 30 but he's still a superstar with no signs of slowing down, and it'll take a lot to get him. The Clippers aren't just going to get younger for the sake of getting younger, while giving up that much value in the process. If they're going to give up a top 6 player and change their entire franchise's direction, they'll want more than a guy, who while young, is nowhere close to the player Paul is and really hasn't improved significantly since the moment he stepped in the league.

Kyrie is both underrated by his detractors here and massively overrated by his supporters. In no way will you get Chris Paul for Kyrie straight up. Paul is better at both ends of the floor, period.

This completely ignores age and contract. I'd be shocked if the Clippers didn't throw (at least) a 1st round pick at us to make that trade.

Pretty sure the Clips have a bare cupboard when it comes to picks.

That doesn't mean much. I mean we threw 2 1sts at Denver to get Mozgov and we only had one to give up until a week before.

Right, but we had 1... and we had something to give up to get another.

Are you saying the Clippers don't have anything to give up to get one? Regardless, they could always draft the player we want in the 2016 draft and actually make the trade after the draft. That's how you get around the Stepien rule.

Spot on with your assessment. I really don't like to talk trades this time of year but since others already mentioned it I'll give you my two cents.

It doesn't seem many here disagree Paul is by far better then Irving. Lead the league 6 times in steals 4 times ast 6 times with DRtg of 103 or lower (Yes team stat but worth mentioning) near career 10 ast

Clearly a better player on both ends. People who thought Paul could possibility of been traded at this past trade deadline where deceiving themselves.

LA had no reason to down grade even if Kyrie is younger. It's not like he's a free agent this summer however Paul has a player option for 2017

Next year could be his last in LA. He is close friends with LeBron godfather to his child. LeBron has already publicly said he wishes to play with Paul

Just because Paul isn't silly enough to say it doesn't mean he doesn't feel the same so what team offers a package that includes an all-star player as young as Irving that's already locked in contract wise for Paul if they have no indication that he will sign long term.

I will tell you who ON ONE. The power is in Paul's hands not LA. The only power LA would have is to make him hold out till next years trade deadline. Unless they take there chances that he picks up his player option.

If Paul made it clear he will leave they will have no choice but to trade him this summer or have one upset player till the trade deadline or lose him the following summer which would be bad business considering they lose out on their chance with Irving.

We win this year No way any of this happens
