Cavs draft workouts

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Just saw DeAndre Hunter is coming in early next week for a workout. Wasn't Sexton one of the last workouts last season? Could be an indicator that Hunter is the target bringing him in so late.
means nothing they bring in a lot of players no one finds out about until later . If they draft Hunter he will be traded a month later

I want Hunter so I hope he wouldn't be traded a month later. Also TT came the week of the draft in 2011 he was picked. Sexton last year and was the pick. Hunter could very well be the guy we are picking at 5.

of course he could be, but what timeline a player works out for Cavs when they always have the 1st rounders in right before the draft means next to nothing and I do not believe Hunter is the pick, if he is it makes no sense for the roster as is. Sure they need defenders, but they need offensive ball handlers and distributors even more and Hunter is neither of those.

I have seen enough and been around the game long enough to know what makes a players stock go up and there has been plenty of positive vibes around all 3 of these , buy yeah I don't have a big board since I am not drafting anyone just like you aren't.

Thestatman always made the best arguments, though...

Yes, that’s right. I haven’t seen any reports that Hunter has worked out for any other teams, so I think he may well be their guy.

^That's true regarding Hunter. He has not worked out for any teams. He wanted his college play to speak for itself. I'm guessing some of the other wings like Sekou and Reddish are getting buzz and may have improved their stock these past few weeks while Hunter has been out of sight. Not to mention the Lakers may be dealing their pick. It seems very fluid after the top 3 picks at this point.

Yes, very fluid after the 3rd pick, indeed. I’m not sure what is going on with Hunter, as thing have been very quiet in his camp?? The fact that he withdrew from the combine and hasn’t worked out with any teams suggests he likely has a promise. From whom is the question?? If he agrees to workout for the Cavaliers, one could surmise the promise is from a team picking behind them in the order or even from the Cavaliers, themselves.

meaning?
Look I don't pretend to know what Altman is thinking and there is certainly a case to be made for a lot of these players no one is expecting to go in the high lottery, but most don't believe it because of the risk involved with players not developing like Sexton has .My take is given the lack of true proven upper tier talent nothing should surprise us whether it's one of the expected options in Hunter or Culver that can also be taken simply to be used as trade bait for one of the sleepers like Kevin Porter,Sekou or Bol but are solid picks if nobody is willing to give up enough to move up for them. However imo the Cavs very well may just take the boom bust option with full expectations of a 2-3 yr rebuild. I think Kevin Porter is that guy , if it were me I'd go with Sekou or Bol. You cannot build a contender by making decisions that don't require developmental risks.

Maybe Cavs gave him a promise , but odds are no since he is coming in for a workout imo. He is probably trying to raise his stock from wherever the promise was. It's more likely promises are only made by teams a little later under most circumstances if you ask me so players like him know their floor is still solid. I think his floor is 10 or 11. Most mocks had him at either 4 , 5 or dropping to 8-12 for awhile which seems reasonable but now that Lakers are stronger contenders for AD it is more likely his ceiling is 5 to Cavs and if it wasn't Atlanta that gave him a promise and instead Wolves or Hornets his agent is probably pushing him to try to get the 5th spot even if Cavs are only picking him as trade bait so he gets paid and doesn't slide past Phoenix and Chicago who don't need him.
It is going to be a very interesting draft, and I think it is kind of smart how Cavs have mostly been bringing in players that are mid-late first level picks and some early 2nd types if they decide to trade down from 26 to say 33 & 34 from Philly which would make some sense if they are planning on getting a higher pick in the first from Miami,Orlando etc where 1 of the 2nds could go back to the team desiring Smiths cap saving contract and would prefer a non guaranteed 2nd back.

It will be interesting to see what Kolby does in this "weak draft".

This team is not going anywhere I could see them adding multiple picks.

I wonder if Atlanta would go #5 and #26 for #8, #10, #17, and #35

Cavs get:

#8 Reddish
#10 Goga
#17 Romeo Langford
#35 Ty Jerome

Heck we could even flip JR to Miami for #13 and end up with a whole lineup of rookies :02.47 tranquillity:

I feel people Laughed at this but I think something similiar, using Jr can be done

Just seems Easy.

5 for 8/10 from Atlanta. They get their Culver. Depending how desperate, start with adding 17... No? Okay..35? No? Okay 8/10/41. Etc. Worse case they might still bite on 5 for 8 and 10. Use Jr and 26 and flip to Miami at 13.

8/10/ and 13

Whoever falls to 8. One has to.
(Garland/Culver/Reddish/Hunter/White)

10. GOGAAAA

13. Future Mvp Mr. "Rome" Langford

17./35./41/. Flyer on whoever.

Yup, something along those lines

Add a combination of those 3 with Sexton/Cedi/Love. You good baby.

All depends if Culver is there at 5.

I think the Cavs giving Hunter the last chance to impress them, shows they like him already and that he can seal the deal, with a strong workout. I look for Hunter to be the Cavs pick at #5.

Think you are wrong. Often the first word is the right word. The day after the lottery the names we heard were Garland and Reddish. I still think those are the names.

Garland apparently had 2 private workouts. Lakers and Cavaliers. Not that it means anything but maybe he is the target at 5.

not all of these workouts are publicized unless they want it to be, and given the likes of Culver,Hunter and Garland will all draw the most interest in trade down situations it comes as no surprise the private workouts were leaked.
I don't trust anyone right now when it comes to Beilein liked Hunter type claims especially when he probably likes Chuma about just as much as a high level 3 & D option at 26.
I hate the idea of taking somebody who is 21 and only a few months shy of 22 as high as 5th in a draft no matter how solid of a floor they have as a nba level starter when that same player severely lacks the skills of a small forward with no iso no handles no step backs beyond close range etc at the next level meaning he a backup pf until Love is traded and a down grade offensively.
The biggest question I will have if they do take Hunter is why did you just hire a developmental head coach and draft a guy with no ceiling that is plug and play backup to the best player on your roster? makes no sense at all
