Werent we working out Bol Bol and Kevin Porter too? Thought I saw that somewhere, they may come into play if we acquire pick 13

It was reported that we talked to them, along with Reddish, at the combine. No news of a workout, at least from what I’ve seen.

Is Bol actually doing workouts at this point?

I hope the closest Porter ever gets to the Cavs is the visitors locker room. Wouldn't take him with the 26th pick.

Not sure about Bol working out. I feel about Bol like you do about Porter. The guy is like a baby giraffe, with a super high center of gravity. He’s an injury waiting to happen and will probably never be healthy in the NBA IMO.

While Bol was healthy though, he scored at a higher rate than Trae Young on 63% true shooting. Very similar situation to MPJ last year where he has serious medical red flags, but has such a high ceiling as a scorer that it's probably worth rolling the dice on the outside chance he gets healthy again.

I'm not a fan of Bol either. I do think there will be times he'll be very effective. But I also think there are some situations in which he's going to be unplayable. Only reason I'd be more willing to take Bol than Porter is that I believe guys with attitude/maturity issues can be disruptive to the rest of the team.

I would definitely take goga over both of them.

MAYBE worth rolling the dice at #26, but certainly not at #5. If Bol Bol has his dad’s body, you just are not going to be able to put much weight on him. Manute was so thin, gangly, & awkward, you felt like he could snap at a moment’s notice. He was almost like a sideshow and the game is so much faster nowadays than it was when Manute played. When you are that thin and you can’t bend, you really have no chance, other than maybe as a 7’2” spot-up shooter.

He could be a really good 7'2" spot up shooter, though. And unlike most 3-point shooting bigs, he's very comfortable shooting 3's on the move or off the bounce. That's interesting because we already have one of the very best outside shooting bigs in the NBA...add Bol and we'd have arguably the best shooting frontcourt in NBA history. Not saying that makes him worth #5, but it certainly makes him worth #26 IMO.

Yeah people talking themselves out of Bol due to weak frame for adding mass and potential foot concerns are actually undervaluing him as a player.
He is not a center in the NBA though not at that weight and if the foot is a major concern than he could fall to the late lottery possibly early 20's but the odds are much greater somebody gambles mid-late lottery even without medicals, where with a clean medical report/ little concern for reoccurrence he is definitely a 4-8 range player so if he falls it's because the medical outlook is poor and at that point I wouldn't take him at 26 either.
His ability to iso up quick guards and shoot over anyone with his legit jumper not a set shot like most players 7" + and his underrated ability as a creator for teammates has to hold water as a wing prospect. He often looked like gigantic pg out there, and at minimum on defense will be a good defender with that length and anticipation IQ etc even if he cannot be a dominant interior presence in the half court getting bounced around like a rag doll.

If we end up with him for whatever reason I think it would be really interesting to play him with Love *and* Nance. Bol would play SF on offense, and would take the least threatening matchup 3-5 on defense. Nance plays C on offense and takes the most threatening matchup 3-5 on defense. Would be really interesting. We probably wouldn't set an NBA record for fewest blocks in a season again. That all assumes he's healthy enough to play, of course.

If we can land either Culvar, reddish or hunter along with bol bol this would be considered a highly successful draft.

If you ask me if I’d rather take a 7’2” spot-up shooter, who likely won’t be able to stay healthy, or a guy with length & athleticism, like a Darius Bazley at #26, it’s a no-brainer for me. I take Bazley every time! He stands a much better chance at being able to play fast & compete in today’s NBA.
