Cavs summer league team

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
We need to keep that pick. Stop with the nonsense.

Can we bottom out in 2019-2020 instead? I doubt it's the better option cause you never want to trend backwards with the same core, and we definitely need another high lottery pick for this rebuild.

Fun fact: Highest pick that stuck in Golden State's rebuild was #7. Highest pick they had was 6 - that was used on Ekpe Udoh.

The logical thing to do is play our young players extensively for the first half or so of the season to win some games and build their confidence, and then give the reigns to JR, Clarkson, and TT for the second half to tank in style. Cedi and Colin can sit back and relax and view how not to play winning basketball, while Ante is chained to a treadmill and forced to build cardio until the season is over.

I think we came out of the draft with Sexton and Doncic which we have in Cedi. This team is already n the fast track for the reboot.

It's going to be tricky. If we have enough talent that we don't have a top5 pick in either of the next two years, we're going to really have to nail our picks the way(ugh) GS did by getting Klay at 11 or a guy like Draymond in the 2nd. If we're more likely to pick in the 7-10 this year and maybe even not have our pick in 2020, we're going to have to become elite drafters. To be the team that recognizes the Haywards, Paul George, Klays, Kawhis, Giannis's, Gobert's, Mitchel's, etc.

Also, we do have to recognize that there are tons of examples of teams having multiple top5 picks in a 3-5 year period and still never being able to build a NBA Finals worthy core.

Shai's feel for the game is very good. He never looks like he is rushing. I was going to ask if you thought that burts was going to get him by guy in the NBA, but man it looked like he wasn't even going full speed. He is just so smooth. I would have been happy with him or Collin to be honest. I am glad they are both looking good instead of Shai looking a lot better.

Who the fuck doesn't protect their pick 1-14 when trading for a 36 year old Korver? What an overpay. It's basic to protect it 1-14..that would have made all the difference.

If Shai turns out to be better, but Sexton turns out to be very good too, then who cares. I like Sexton more as a person, so he gets points for this too.

Shai had been my favourite for so long lol. I just shake my head every time he scores a layup. Makes it look so easy.

I don't like how he competes on D though. He gets by with his size, but he is lethargic out there.

What's even more maddening is that 6 weeks later, the Raptors got PJ Tucker from the Suns for Jared Sullinger and two 2nd round picks.

Yeah, it's fucking absurd.

1-10 protection? how weird. Hawks have a chance to get a lottery pick out of this bs. It's just mind boggling. This should never happen.

Cavs aren't tricking me this time... I'm just going to assume Kobe/Shaq will not be available on Saturday.

Can we realistically lose the pick this year, and then bottom out the next year? How bad is it for culture and player and team progression? it has to be way worse than bottoming out right away and then making the leap the next year right?

Well actually it is really likely is Love is here this year, his contract runs out, and then he leaves. JR will not be brought back (slight positive), Korver expires(negative), and George Hill would have his team option declined(slight negative) so overall I would guess we would be worse in 2020 than 2019 if no major trades are made.

That's why it's important to trade Love for picks/young pieces by the halfway point at the latest.

I think if Love stays, there is a big chance we re-sign him. No?

I'm sure Love will get injured for a few months and Lue is going to play Nance for 15 minute stretches until he's injured. Who knows what JR is going to do without Lebron. TT is determined to shine now that Lebron is gone. That can only be good for us....

I think we're going to be alright pick wise.

Suns, Kings, Memphis, Dallas, and the Bulls should also be improved this year.
