Cedar Point 2016

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Any recommendations on getting a package of 4 fast lane passes and a hotel for a night up at Cedar Point.

Just the tickets are like $530 regular price.

That's absurd, anyone have any good deals?

Are you serious? Can you do a price breakdown?

Is it 67 for both a regular ticket and fastlane on top?

Around $50 each for admission

$90 each additional for FastLane

Seems absurd to me.

Not even factoring in a hotel/Airbnb plus food, this seems wholly unreasonable

If you know anyone that has a AAA membership tickets are $40 each. Not sure if they have a FastLane discount.

How soon do you look to go? I know they have sales about once a month that they post on facebook. Last week they had tickets on sale for $33.50. They will probably have a memorial day and 4th of July sale as well. I think you can only use the tickets between certain dates though. As for the hotel, I would drive a half hour or so back towards the direction you're going to save money.

Cedar Point announces 'Steel Vengeance' RMC coaster for 2018 to replace Mean Streak

New for the 2018 season is "Steel Vengeance," a record-breaking roller coaster that will be the tallest of its kind.

It will be the first wood-steel hybrid coaster in the world to feature a first drop taller at heights higher than 200 feet. Standing at 205 feet tall, riders will plummet at a 90-degree vertical angle at speeds up to 74 mph with upside-down maneuvers.

Overall, Steel Vengeance is 5,740 feet long, including a 73 mph airtime hill. There are 27.2 seconds of total airtime throughout the entire ride, which is the most airtime on any roller coaster ever constructed in the world.

They seem to have used ALL of the former Mean Streak structure which makes this ride long as hell for a steel ride. The company that built it, RMC, is supposedly batting 1.000 on these conversions so this will probably kick major ass. I think this will make the last two installations (Gatekeeper and Valravn) look like crap in comparison. Having this ride next to Maverick will likely make the back of the park more crowded than ever.

Which is great for other rides' wait times. The Mean Streak still garnered some attention, but now with 2 fast as shit coasters in the back, others will open up.

I haven't been to CP in quite some time. Whichever came first, Valravn or Gatekeeper, have not been there since both of them opened. So I think next year will be the time. Be able to experience 3 new coasters in one shot.

I think Raptor will still be my favorite, though. I don't know why, I just freakin' love that ride. Maverick is a very close 2nd.

Raptor holds the fuck up, it's a great ride without doubt. Maverick is currently my favorite in the park.

Gatekeeper and Valravn (built in that order) are from the same company (B&M) that built Raptor and Rougarou (Mantis). They have a great track record overall, but in Cedar Point it's kind of mixed. Gatekeeper is kinda slow and doesn't really pack the punch of Raptor. I haven't been on the floorless conversion of Mantis yet, not Valravn, but I'm sure their solid without topping Raptor.

Regardless, kinda nuts the collection they've built. Mean Streak was the weakest part of the collection for me, given that it was painful to ride. But now holy shit.

Cedar Point will now have 6 coasters of at least 200 ft in height (Magnum, Millennium, Wicked Twister, Dragster, Valravn, Steel Vengeance). Next closest parks have 3.

Who wants to rent me out and skip the lines?

I'm going the first weekend of September, stoked. Haven't been since 2015 so I haven't gotten to hit Valravn yet.

Steel Vengeance is complete and getting tested. They posted this a few days ago.

This ride will be insane and will likely be considered the best in the park by a lot of people. Most Maverick fans, like myself, will find this tops it. If you're more into the gracefulness of Millennium, it's harder to say. But this one is gonna be nuts. Only a few days away from opening.

EDIT: Also, it's standard for RMC to make these kinds of rides without over-the-shoulder restraints but still, it's amazing that we no longer need rides to clamp over our chest.

Fuuuuck, I absolutely need to get to Cedar Point again this year. It was great going back last year, as I hadn't been since 2015. Living out of state and all that. But this year I'll be in Charlotte, so I can be in northeast Ohio in around 7 hours. Makes a much easier day, casual trip for a weekend.

Millennium will be my favorite coaster there forever, but this looks great.

What the hell is with that car tho??? :chuckle: Looks weird.
