Cedar Point 2016

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Fuuuuck, I absolutely need to get to Cedar Point again this year. It was great going back last year, as I hadn't been since 2015. Living out of state and all that. But this year I'll be in Charlotte, so I can be in northeast Ohio in around 7 hours. Makes a much easier day, casual trip for a weekend.

Millennium will be my favorite coaster there forever, but this looks great.

What the hell is with that car tho??? :chuckle: Looks weird.

If you can’t make it out to Cedar Point this year, be sure to hit Carowinds which is pretty close to Charlotte IIRC.

They’ve got Fury 325 which is touted as the best roller coaster in the world. It’s basically Millennium on steroids.

I've been meaning to make a trip out there but just haven't had the chance because life.

Yeah, my girlfriend keeps mentioning it, but I've never heard of it. It's pretty good? I'm gonna have to check it out. It's owned by the same company as Cedar Point right?

Yep, Cedar Fair owns it.

I haven’t personally been there, but it’s next on my amusement park bucket list. Their coaster lineup isn’t as deep as Cedar Point’s, but their top-3/4 contends with any park on the planet.

Fury 325 - basically Millenium on steroids
Intimidator - a more modern Magnum
Afterburner - Raptor on steroids

Nighthawk is also a unique ride that you basically fly around on your stomach. Same thing as Firehawk at King’s Island if you’ve ever been there. A lot of people like them, but I’m just a bit too tall to really enjoy flying coasters. That’s probably their #4.

After that, rides like Hurler, Carolina Cyclone, Vortex, etc. are all fine but nothing groundbreaking.

You have to ride those first three if you go though.

Is the magnum the one that just goes up and down with big hills and flies you around the lake? That is my fave coaster at Cedar point. Millenium rules too, but the white one that rides you along the coast is just beautiful and really fun.

I haven't been to Carowinds but it looks like Afterburn and Raptor are fairly comparable (same number of inversions, similar first drop height). So I imagine it indeed kicks ass.

Intimidator was built by B&M, which made Raptor (and Afterburn, and Valravn, and so many great rides) and if it's anything like their other hyper coasters, it's probably WAY smoother than Magnum and similarly focuses on airtime hills. I recently got to ride Nitro, it's cousin at Six Flags Great Adventure, and it was fantastic.

Fury has had a ton of good reviews and I'd love to give it a ride. Hard to beat the nostalgia and scenery of Millennium, regardless of where a new ride is though.

Yeah, Magnum has the white train on the red tracks. It's gotten rough with age IMO, but still a classic. First coaster to break the 200 ft barrier in 1989.

Yep, a lot of coaster enthusiasts are in love with Afterburn. Some have it as the number one invert in the world. I'm a huge Raptor guy (probably have it third behind Maverick & Millennium), so I really want to get on it at some point.

Wow, I didn't know that place was so legit. Might have to get passes. Stoked!

Still think I'll get up to CP this year some time, too.

Cedar Fair platinum pass gets you into all parks and waterparks all year. Get one of those, and it'll work for Carowinds and Cedar Point (plus Kings Island, Dominion, and other Cedar Fair parks).

At least it should, I used to have one every year when I lived in Sandusky, but that was a couple years ago, so I'm not sure if they changed anything.

FULL POV:

It's strange that people in most parts of the country don't get to be as spoiled as Ohioans when it comes to coasters. Cedar Point has been world class for decades and now just added what might be the best coaster on the planet... Right next to Maverick and a short walk from Millennium.

The wait time for this thing is gonna be 3+ hours.

Fast pass, yo

Have never gotten it, mainly because the people I go with bitch and moan about paying extra money. But what's the point in going if you only ride 4 things?

Exactly.

I went a couple years ago and got Fast Pass for the first time; I'll never go back to waiting in lines. If you only go once a year or so, it's easily worth the extra money.
