Channing Frye

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I get that he's miscast in his role and playing about 5-10 more minutes than he should be.

That said, he can't even make open threes right now--his one skill.

He needs about a week off to get his legs back because if he isn't shooting, he isn't doing anything for us.
He's 17/29 from 3 in his last couple games.

I'm interested to see how he responds when korver comes back, can he keep up the shooting and stay agressive when his primary role is setting screens

I dread watching Channing trying to attack in the paint. I know he has to do it when the defense gives it to him but it's usually pretty painful.

Chaning Frye could be such a situational weapons it's insane.
He just needs to be used at the right times which doesn't happen much because we are short.
Against lumbering bigs such as Baynes and Drummond he becomes so lethal on Offense. On Defence he can be less of a problem with the right personnel.

I want to like Channing again. Hopefully sanders can play center for him cover up his mistakes. Channing needs to be back in his role from last year.

My post was from March 7th, clearly old and at the time when he was in a shooting funk. But nice grave digging, cub scout.

Channing apparently doesn't get into shooting funks. He gets into shooting form funks, looks at NBA.com clips, pulls his elbow back in, and returns to shooting threes @ 90%:
Channing Frye said Saturday he noticed some footage of himself shooting on the Cavs' website and saw his right elbow was out. He's fixed it, and over his last five games is 14-of-25 from 3-point range.

He gets the start tonight

His role last year was to be a stretch 5 off the bench.

One thing I've noticed and they've even brought this up on the Road Trippin' podcast is Frye's ineffectiveness as the roll guy. He is usually in good position to dunk/lay it up but will take 2 extra dribbles than pump fake air only to have an defensive avalanche collapse on him. This kills the clock and results in a bad shot for another teammate.

Relying on Channing to get rebounds is difficult and our guys with the exception of Bron (who sometimes watches Frye get destroyed) usually leak out on the break. If he plays the 5 then our non-bigs have to help.

I think when Frye's shot is not falling his entire game is off. He's a good player but for his height he has to improve his layups. Too many times he rushes when he's trying to lay the ball up. He acts as if someone is going to block his shot and just throws the ball up. To makes matters worse he does not know how to boxout properly to get a rebound.
I like Fyre but he needs to use his dead fake to drive to hole and not chuck up the 3 when he's not hot.

How long is this guy under contract? Can we get rid of him this summer?

As much as we hate his game this season, he is one of the guys which holds this team together. Him and RJ are our chemistry superstars on the team. I don't think we will get rid of him that fast.

Him and RJ should be our end of the bench guys. Not integral part of rotations. Give their minutes to Derrick and we are good.

I didn't know Frye was capable of a tip dunk.

Nice. Nice.
