Chiefs dilemma

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Stedman Bailey looks like a much better receiver to me than Tavon Austin. But Tavon Austin is much better after the catch. Tavon would be much better as a slot receiver in my opinion and Bailey would be better on the outside. And I have no idea if Bowe is staying or going. Bowe is a great receiver, but I don't want to over pay him. He probably isn't worth the money he is going to ask for. I don't have a problem with letting him walk if that is the case.

I must admit I was rude and only checked out the videos neglecting your text. I'm really sorry.

I personally think Watkins is a lock but they've not officially declared.
Watkins is a sophomore.

How would you Chiefs fans react if you guys ended up going with Barkley?

I'm pretty dead set on Geno now, but I honestly don't know. Whoever we think is the best QB is who we should take.

Geno Smith #1 overall?

Gutsy. How very Jamarcus Russell of you. ;)

So you think you have to go QB? I know the situation is a mess at QB for you guys, but the draft is just so weak at the position. Would you be happier bringing in Alex Smith temporarily and shoring up some other weaknesses? I'm not really an avid follower of KC so I don't know what you guys need besides QB. Jamaal is a beast and Bowe is a great WR so it seems that the offense could get clicking if you bring in someone successful at QB.

QB is 95% of the problem. Theoretically, I wouldn't mind taking Alex Smith or someone for a year and see how it works out and maybe get a QB in one of the next two drafts. But the problem with Alex Smith is that he reminds me too much of Cassel. The problem with Cassel is that he NEVER makes home run throws or makes any big plays and he rarely even attempts them. Its more like a short pass for a couple yards here and there and then a 3 and out. He is just a clock manager at best and plays way too safe. We need a QB that can make something happen and be aggressive. Alex Smith is the exact same way as Cassel, but he can get away with it in San Fran because that kind of quarterback can work with that great of a defense backing it up. We don't have a 49ers defense.

We need to have someone that can make plays, and I'm actually pretty sold on Geno. The more I watch him play, the more I'm sold on him and I actually feel pretty comfortable that he is the guy we need. I don't feel like its a big risk like a Jamarcus Russell or Vince Young type. Geno may not be RGIII or Andrew Luck, but I think he is exactly what we need. A guy, who first has the ABILITY to make big throws and at the same time is aggressive enough to try to make those plays. Chiefs are so ridiculously conservative on offense it pains me to watch. I think we move backwards half the time on offense. If Geno threw an interception every possession, I would be fine with it as long as he is at least trying to make a play. I don't doubt his ability.

Okay Mr. I'm highly aware of players' age. :p

Not trying to sound like an ass, just trying to be helpful. He plays at Clemson, and I wish he was eligible for the draft so my Gamecocks don't have to go against him again next year. He is a great player.

Well.... Chiefs trade their second round pick for Alex Smith. Everybody here is all excited about it, except me. I kind of am, but he seems like Cassel 2.0 to me. Anyone else agree with me? Its definitely an upgrade, but not much in my opinion. We better keep Bowe I guess to make it work. I would say it is safe to say we aren't taking a QB at number one, which I'm happy with though since no QB's are worthy of #1 this year. Thoughts?

@ESPNStatsInfo

No quarterback drafted by the Chiefs has won a game for Kansas City since Todd Blackledge in 1987.

:chuckles:

Wow, that is a sobering stat. That is a testament apparently of the Carl Peterson regime, apparently he never cared to get his own QB through the draft. The Browns record isn't much better,though- the last QB to worth anything that this team has drafted was Bernie.
