Cleveland Browns 2018 Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Watching corners drop like flies is pushing second cornerback up my draft priority list. The one thing Mike Pettine got right a few coaches ago is carrying a shit ton of cornerbacks on the 53 man roster.

Trade a 5th or 6th for Gareon Conley and profit

He’s a year removed from being a first round pick. He’s not a flier.

Yes, I’m aware. But Jon Gruden isn’t going to take scraps right now. Offseason? Maybe you can revisit.

Gruden wants to "take it down to the studs" with players he isn't high on. He still wants value back. Call him Sashi's last admirer.

With the injuries starting to mount, I have a bad feeling this season is about to unravel.

It was always going to once teams figured out our offense and defense. Our coaches aren't good enough to counter any coach worth a damn.

Wouldn’t be the worst thing.

Toss this entire staff out in the garbage and pray someone with an innovative mind sees the potential.

Take another couple of high picks and make it count like they did with these two.

Plus the next seven weeks don't really have any easy games. Bucs I'd call a toss up. Probably underdogs in the rest of those games.

@Bucs
@Steelers
Chiefs
Falcons
@Bengals
@Texans
Panthers

I'd call Texans a toss up too, as they haven't been terribly good. I know they're .500 but that whole division is a joke.

Above all else, don't let the development we have already seen from the young core begin to regress. I don't believe the coaches will be back next season, especially the offensive coaches, but firing the staff this early doesn't accomplish much.

I'd be kind of surprised if this team hasn't turned against the coaching staff by the bye week, to be honest. It seems like the seeds for it started to be planted this past week with guys leaving early, Duke publicly questioning his role, and the team as a whole just quitting in the game.

But that is exactly what it would take for a mid-season firing. Players would have to be the catalyst for the firing. On top of that, remember that if/when Hue is dismissed the interim coach would be either Williams (most experienced as an interim coach and his squad listens to him) or Haley, who has inspired no confidence. I find it more likely that Haley is canned at the bye week and everyone else stays on the deck of the Titanic until December.

I mean, I'm not really advocating firing Hue now. I just want him gone at the end of the year.

I was just saying I could totally see the team turning on him once things start going south the next few weeks and it becomes abundantly clear how much the coaching staff is holding the team back.

But generally speaking, I don't disagree with any of what you wrote. Our entire coaching staff is garbage, so firing Hue and replacing him doesn't really do much. Maybe you get a short-term morale boost?
