Really? I feel the exact opposite. I think you miss so much in person compared to on TV with football. There's just so many replays on TV that you don't get to see in person. It seems like just about every damn play has a replay on TV, sometimes from multiple angles. I never really feel that way at a baseball or basketball game. The action is slower in baseball, so you don't really miss anything (unless you are talking about being able to tell if a pitch is a ball/strike). And in basketball, there aren't as many bodies on the court, so it isn't as congested and difficult to see what's happening.
I feel like you have to have pretty good seats and be on the sidelines (not in the endzones) as well. I sat 4th row in the endzone last year and felt like I had no clue WTF was going on when the teams were on the opposite side of the 50 yard line. When you are in the endzones and that low, you can't tell how far a player is running forward. There were multiple times that game where Chubb was dancing around for 3-4 seconds and I was like "Ok that looked like a good run, maybe 7-8 yards" and it ended up being a 1 yard gain. It's just impossible to tell from that viewpoint. Sitting up higher may actually be better in that case (I don't know for sure, but it makes sense).
Football is the only sport that I easily enjoy watching more on TV (if you aren't factoring in atmosphere, pre-game/post-game/etc. and are just talking about the actual viewing of the game itself).
