Cleveland Browns Quarterback Position

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
As of today the only QB I'm really interested in us drafting is Webb. I'm willing to draft Webb and let Kessler go into the season as the starter. With his injury history and to some degree his play, It's likely that Kessler won't make it through a full season. At some point in the season give Webb a few games unless Kessler is lighting shit up.

Stay at #12 and pick the BPA unless the guy they really want isn't there then at that point trade back and try to pick up an additional 1st for 2018. Keep enough ammo to have the ability to move up if need be next year when their will be more enticing options at QB. This would be fine with me as I expect the defense to be much improved and will result in more wins as long as we have at least average QB play between Kessler and Webb.

Well I have none of these guys a top 15 player in the draft and none are ready to actually start as a rookie, they all need to sit. I would not draft Watson or Kizer since Watson is a college QB that will not transition well to the pros unless he sits for awhile. Kizer just feels like his mental makeup isn't there to be a pro QB. I have Mahomes as the second ranked QB behind Trubisky (who I think will end up being a starting QB just not an elite one) Webb I think is the guy Cleveland should get, since he probably will end up being a 3rd round pick, needs work on some footwork, but everything else is there. Dobbs is also interesting, but he may lack all the physical tools to make it.

Boner for him, not really, he just makes a lot of sense for the next couple seasons until we get our franchise guy (likely in the 2018 draft and we let him sit a season or two).
So in other words you have no list and are not a QB guru?

If the Watson ball velocity thing is true, then it would be really impossible for me to consider him anywhere in the first round, maybe even at all.

Assuming that's true, Trubisky and Mahomes are the only two guys I'd be comfortable taking in the 1st round. Kizer is firmly a 2nd round and beyond player. Not really interested in anyone else.

Would you take Mahomes at 12 or maybe trade up from 33? His value does appear to be on the up and up, Wentz style.

Gun to my head, depending on who's gone at 12, I'd give Mahomes a really long look.

If these guys are all gone at 12: Jon Allen, Mitch Trubisky, Solomon Thomas, Jamal Adams, Leonard Fournette, Malik Hooker, Marshon Lattimore, OJ Howard, Mike Williams then I'd really strongly consider Mahomes at that spot.

Yeah, there's been a lot of talk about how hard of a worker Mahomes is, how well-liked he's becoming.

He may have the best raw tools of any QB in the draft. A lot of messiness watching him, throwing off his back foot. But even still, great arm talent and he's supposedly already made a ton of progress mechanically since the end of the season according to guys like Matt Miller and Mayock.

The thing that's weird with Watson is I never see a lack of arm watching him. He actually seems to have a good arm. It's always been more his decision making and ability to win from the pocket that are the question marks. I am really curious about those velocity measurements.

Well, he's also the best QB prospect in this draft, has a strong arm, good size, is an accurate passer, and is a good athlete.

On top of that, he's also a sharp dude. He has all the tools...

In fact, his main weaknesses are 1) Limited starting experience/tape 2) 98% of his snaps were in the shotgun, much like most college quarterbacks these days and 3) the occasional inconsistency in throwing mechanics that many of these young guys deal with.

The facts that he's a local kid and actually wants to play for the Browns are just gravy.

He might be the best QB prospect. And I get it, every QB prospect has concerns, but this one right here makes me worried

"Benefits from offense loaded with RPOs (run-pass option) that pull linebackers forward and open easier throwing windows. Played in space-based passing attack that didn't often ask him to throw to tight windows in traffic.

Needs better drive accuracy between the hashes."

The latter will lead to a lot of turnovers in the NFL. Not saying he can't, or won't clean these things up. But, they definitely make you pause for concern.

I haven't made a full list since I have been a bit busy for that and for whatever reason, I just have an eye for QBs. I can watch film and whatnot and say if they will be a good pro QB or not. I haven't been wrong actually the last few drafts about QBs. I guess I have a hidden talent for whatever reason (either I have found luck or I am just naturally talented at evaluating QBs)

You've posted 22 times today, mostly about your own self importance. How about making yourself less busy with talking about how great you are and make yourself more busy with the list? It would be much more interesting to read.

I have been sick all day and barely been awake. When I have been awake I've been watching baseball and also I state my opinion about players/what we should do and people like to pick it apart. I go by my hunches and eye test on players rather than give good definitions why this player or this player should or shouldn't be drafted. I don't know all the terms that should be used to explain things either which doesn't help me out for football. That always gets anyone after me since I don't know how to speak football, I can just point out players who will do well. So I can make a list but people will pick it apart since I don't know how to explain things properly

Mother of God. I don't even care about this list, yet I want to slap the excuses out of you.

You should've just said you have diarrhea. That always works. And no one wants slap a guy with diarrhea.

McCarron has been rumored to Cleveland just like Grappolo for awhile now, mostly cause Jackson is our coach, but not gotten the press of the main people like Grappolo has been.

This is true, but maybe we need to try and make it more fun, not like we have anything better to do.
It hasn't gotten much press because it's so unlikely the Bengals would make a trade with us. Especially for a QB. They want us to be stuck in QB purgatory. They don't want to hand us our QB of the future. I don't really care what the picks are in return.

The only reason Cincy would have to trade McCarron to us is if we thought he is awesome and they knew he is terrible.

I actually do not see McCarron as the future franchise QB, just someone who can be a competent starter for the next few years until they groom the future QB. Aka as a starter for two or three seasons as they develop a guy. If we acquire McCarron that is because Jackson has faith he can be a starting QB, if we don't then either Cincinnati didn't want to trade with us or Jackson doesn't have that faith in him.
