Cleveland Browns Quarterback Position

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
We already have AJ McCarron on this team. We just call him Cody Kessler.

After some research, I've settled on Mahomes as my favorite factoring draft slot.

Looking forward to someone forming an argument for taking Trubisky that doesn't involve saying "local kid, loves the Browns."

Not sure that argument is out there, however.

I think that's the fans perspective because every Clevelander wants to play for the home town Browns right? I think if you asked Mitchell and his immediate family under truth serum, he'd want to be drafted pretty much by any team except for the Browns.

Similar styles of QB, McCarron has a bit more upside and experience over Kessler. Either way both guys are game manager QBs who in the starting role will be solid, just neither will be franchise guys. They cannot make the wow plays that a franchise guy is able to. Also have McCarron in town as well, so we have more eye candy if the team isn't doing well! Lol

So if they're essential the same person, and neither will be franchise QB, why waste assets to get McCarron?

He has more upside than Kessler and can make more throws than Kessler can. Also if we do acquire him Jackson has faith he could be a legit NFL starter. He coached him for a few seasons, so if we do get him, Jackson has faith in him. My opinion he is better than Kessler but not enough to be considered a Franchise QB.

More experience? Kessler has actually started games. I can't find anything on McCarron playing in a regular season game, let alone starting.

And Jackson supposedly had faith enough in Kessler to draft him. That's his pet project. He's on board with that quote. Jackson didn't draft McCarron, and you're under the assumption because he coached him means he'd even want him.

I don't have a problem taking on one pet project, but trading assets to acquire another makes no sense.

Whether one has more upside/talent than the other is really splitting hairs if you ask me.

Both have the same red flags where the kind of throws they can make are really limited.

They are maybe system starting QB calibers at best, but more likely just good backup QBs.

Hard pass on McCarron.

No, the UNC bio's include players' "team they would most like to play for." His is Cleveland.

He's a glutton for punishment. Scroll to "Personal" at the bottom.

You do realize that Minnesota checked in on McCarron when replacing Bridgewater and the asking price was higher than what they paid for Bradford (1st and 4th), right?

So clearly they don't want to deal him, let alone to an AFC North team.

So yeah, you don't pay that for a bridge starter until you get a franchise guy. That's just dumb.

He started 3 games in 2015 when Dalton got hurt, and threw 6 TDS and 2 INTs while completing 66.4% of his passes. I am not saying we have to get him/that we will, but he ends up being a similar option to Grappolo, guys who are on a rookie contract who are backups on other teams.

If there was a franchise QB in this draft we would not be rumored with these guys so that tells me no matter who we draft they will need to sit likely behind Kessler, and I doubt we don't go get someone who has been in the league longer as well than Kessler has!

Sounds like @sportscoach would.

Haha heck no! I want his wife in town so threesome with Kessler's girl and McCarron's wife, that be any man's dream lol

Interesting. Not what I've heard...
Perhaps throughout the draft process, he's tried to shed the thought that he has a favorite team. Similar to many players do (aside from all these Cowboys fans we may draft...) where they go out of their way to show that they would love any team.

After all, he and his agent made a decision to go by "Mitchell" to appear more adult. Wouldn't be surprised if this is also the info being put out there as "not a Browns fan."

But deep down, he's a sufferer like the rest of us. Browns backer. Rest-assured.
