Cleveland Browns Quarterback Position

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Mike Chico Bohrman is sitting in for Bull and Fox. Nice to see another radio guy joiing Dustin Fox in publicly claiming that Mayfield is the guy.

Like I posted above, Mayfield is miles ahead of any other quarterback candidate and it's a shame that a beat writer like MKC should be permitted to spew her nonsense like she did in the PD yesterday.

Hey Mary Kay, get in the kitchen and make me a sammich...lol.

I am probably going to regret this but you said Mary Kay is reporting it'll be Darnold and Rosen at #1. You say she's spewing nonsense. What evidence do you have that she's spewing nonsense? And before you go into it, just because you don't like what she says doesn't mean she's wrong. Most "draft experts" have Darnold as the #1 QB and those that don't have Rosen in that spot. It's not out of line to suggest 1 of those 2 will be the pick.

It's a shame you're permitted to spew your nonsense on this message board, but here we are.

I'm pretty sure the homeless guy who advised Jimmy Haslam before the Manziel was named Mike ChicoBohrman. Either way, a substitute radio host is a 50/50 shot at living out of his car. Not the guy you quote as expert opinion to change minds effectively.

Wonder if statman is sportcoach's 4.10 40' brother.
I don't know man, I'm really hoping the two become arch enemies.

Battle of the goddam century.

Stat versus Sport.

Man versus Coach.

Pissed-off versus Good-natured.

"I get all my stats from the radio and that damn Mary Kay needs to stick to ironing." versus "To be sincere, I can only buy my jeans at Buckle aka I have thick meaty thighs lol."

It has to be jigo's burner account. No way that's not a troll.

yeah but those stats should mean something. I mean i got it that mayfield at 70+% competition rate isnt everything, however allen at just a 55% is a damn good reason to discount him.

Bob2, I think you need to research and watch film on Allen before making a blanket statement like that. Allen played with a terrible offensive line, who had him on the run most of the year. He is working under the most unimaginative offensive coordinator in college football. Wyoming's game plan is to run it on 1st and 2nd down with a core of running backs that were horrid to say the least. He lost his running back, tight end, and two receivers to the NFL from the year before. Wyoming was almost dead last in offensive output among all div.1 teams. In most cases Allen would get the ball on 3rd and long with the other team bringing everyone but the water boy at him. He faced 8 man fronts from most teams with no running game to set up the passing game. His OC hardly ever went off script and ran on the first two downs. His receivers were some of the worst in the nation, dropping all types of balls. It was a nightmare for a qb with that much talent to come back to. He did it out of loyalty to the coaches and fans. I can't stress enough how bad Wyoming's offensive scheme was. The staff was used to having linemen that could run over the opposition. The OC wouldn't adjust to what team was on the field, he wanted the lack of talent to adjust to his scheme. Whenever Wyoming would get the lead, Wyoming's OC would take the air out of the ball and run it. He never let Allen have a crack at defenses with a lead. Watch the bowl game against Central Michigan, it shows all you need to know. After Allen put the game away with 3 TD passes in the 1st quarter it was boring as hell to watch.

They wouldn't have won 3 games without Allen. Allen was out 2.5 games with a shoulder injury. But he still managed to win 8 games because he finds a way to win. In the losses to Iowa and Oregon, Wyoming was outclassed. Not so much by Iowa, but definitely by Oregon. And that was before Oregon lost their qb and running back. Receivers couldn't get seperation, running backs couldn't run the ball. I don't care what qb you put in for Allen, they wouldn't have had a better completion % than he had. Granted he threw the ball too hard, but got coached up at the Senior Bowl and started taking some heat off the ball. If Allen gets the right coaching and team, there will be a lot of people wishing they had drafted him. Allens head coach also coached Wentz, and he said at this point in their careers that Allen was a bit ahead of Wentz. He said Wentz had more touch on the ball, Allen a better overall athlete with a better arm.

Allen played 1 year of JC ball and almost two years for Wyoming. People are making excuses for Rosen and Darnold and the teams they had to play behind. Allen would have flourished under that type of talent. He had way more pressure on him than they ever imagined. The 2nd half of the Senior Bowl Allen had his way with passing and running the ball. He showed touch, pocket presence, escapability, and a cannon for an arm with guys he never played with before. Mayfield only wanted to play a few series, afraid he would show his weaknesses. Allen will compete anywhere with anyone. Put Allen in the Big 12 with Oklahoma and all that talent and he would eat up those weak assed defenses in that conference. I guess if all you are concerned with is completion percentage, no arguing with you. But at least understand why his % is what it is. One other game of note is when we played Boise State at Boise State. We went into the 4th quarter leading that game. Then our OC started trying to run the ball to close out the 4th quarter and got out oached again. Allen can play against good talent, but he does need help. He had some help the Boise game, so we could have won it. Except for our OC. Boise State ended up ranked to end the year. If Allen does do the Combine, he will blow everyone away. They said he was the MVP of the Manning camp, so someone who has played Pro ball knows what they are looking at. And Elway was on the sidelines to see him at the bowl game and at the Senior Bowl. Just wanted to point some things out you may not know. Sorry about the long post. I follow Wyoming sports. So have an insider look at it and their conference.

Is that right ?

Not trying to be a dick, sorry if it came off that way. I just don't think most really know much about what Allen had to go through. He is a great kid, just like Larry Nance. It isn't often Wyoming gets blessed with two high character kids like those two, so we take pride in them. I have been fortunate to get to watch Allen as much as I have. He has things to work on. But he really didn't have much to work with and was put in some pretty bad situations. I guess only time will tell.

It's a good quarterbacks class. The Browns, sitting at the top of the draft, are choosing between four players who could go top ten this year and would be more highly touted of the other two didn't come out this year. One trait of bad posting this season has been to overly neg the other three talents to make "your guy" seem better. Its a tell that the problem is the style of argument, not the player. All that said, the Browns front office are in a position to split hairs because you can only take one.

I'm much more interested in what the Browns do at vet bridge QB and the other key holes in the roster. The guy they groom for the future is a pretty safe bet.
