Cleveland Browns Quarterback Position

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Of course, I was not speaking about Flacco (who has proven relatively durable), but Garoppolo, the QB many are speculating will cost CLE at least a 1st round pick to acquire via trade, will require a multi-year high dollar contract extension, and who lasted 1.5 games before suffering a separated shoulder. His college injury record has been posted in this thread as an example of his lack of injury history as its relates to the cost of acquiring him.

What happens on the next NFL hit of this type, or the one after that. Of course, no one knows. And that's the point.

Jimmy has also sat on the bench for years without getting a single splinter.

My guess is wild speculation based on no medical evidence.

Guys, detective Tony Grossi is on the case and he knows exactly who will be the Browns next QB :chuckle:

1. Tyrod Taylor, Buffalo Bills ………….. 23 points.
....
4. Pro Football Focus – the Browns’ unofficial bible of analytics – loves the skinny-legged dual threat.

....
2. Jimmy Garoppolo, New England Patriots … 20 points.
None of their top football executives personally scouted him prior to the 2014 draft, so they wonder: What’s the big deal?

4. Mitch Trubisky, North Carolina ……………. 9 points.
....
The fact the Mentor native did not play college ball in Ohio helps; the Browns under-scout their own backyard.

5. Patrick Mahomes, Texas Tech ……………. 8 points.
....
And he didn’t play at Cal, USC, UCLA, Pacific or any other West Coast college.

8. DeShone Kizer, Notre Dame …………….. 3 points.
....
Too big, too strong-armed, too classic AFC North-molded for the Browns.

Jesus Christ, Tony.

Guys, when we transition to the RealClevelandFans forum, is there a chance we get press credentials to gain a sit down with Salami Brown and ask him about this off season?

I'd move Cam down to second due to some level of inconsistency and for Carr it's a little early for me to put him in tier 1, though I think he'll be there eventually. Also...Brady, Rodgers, Roeth, Brees are the only gues in tier 1. I just can't put Carr and Cam in there with them.

I'd bump Brees to tier 1 because he's still extremely efficient. I'm assuming you did this, because he's on the way out.

I'd bump Mariota and Dak into tier 2. Really versatile, smart guys who I don't think will ever be tier 1 guys but may hang around the edge of the top 10 their whole career. Id'd take that all day.

I was blown away by Carr before Trent Cole broke his leg right after a last second throw. He was MVP over Ryan in my opinion. Factor in his Pro Bowl 2015 season and the consistency is there for me. Of course he had an ankle sprain as a rookie and an injured hand one week last year, so some would call him injury prone.

The book was out on Cam Newton a little last year. He doesn't like getting hard hits and just like every other dual threat QB, he leaves himself open to them every game. I'm fine with bumping him down to tier two.

Here's my issue with Brees: the dome masks the fact his arm strength is deteriorating. He is still one of the best at manipulating the defense with fakes and moving in the pocket. If he's tier one, he's the last guy in and might be tier 3 in 2017.

Dak was outstanding as a rookie, but he was a game manager with a perfect supporting cast. That's tier three until I see him do more with less. I can get behind a boost for Mariota and even Winston, who was electric in the second half of the season.

Still, it wouldn't surprise me at all if Garoppolo lands somewhere in that lower second tier next season with the right coaches. From what I can tell, Saluki Brown has the right coaches but hasn't found the right players yet.

Of course, it's also wild speculation that Grappolo was DEFINITELY ready to play the week Brady returned. We really don't know...this is Bill B. we're dealing with here. My overall point is being slammed to the ground is a common occurrence for NFL QB's and JG didn't hold up so well after 1.5 starts of the 4 game opportunity he had waited for his whole life. Not something I'm going to ignore if it were me sitting down to contemplate giving Bill his price.

Which QBs are getting slammed to the ground regularly?

If that's the case, you've got bigger issues to worry about than the possibility your QBs collarbone is too fragile.

RGIII, Josh McCown, Kessler to be fair.

Didn't all three break collarbones and anuses this year? @SuperSurge

You mean the Browns game, where Brady came back and threw for over 400 yards and it was Garoppolo who played the game out? Seems like definitive proof.

I dont mind putting up with different opinions, but some of these hot takes lack basic research.
