Cleveland Cavaliers Summer League 2019

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Garland is still filling out and he is already shooting effortlessly from Steph Curry range. Garland also crushed his workout with everyone watching- "...went at least 5 minutes without missing a shot". Considering how far away he was while canning some of his shots, that is really hard to do.

Garland Private Workout

If he can stay healthy, he has a good chance to be a superstar.
If he killed it like that in his private workout, then why can't he play in the summer league?

Sure, the small sample size helped him as its hard to argue otherwise however Garland has seemingly made it a habit of taking a few games or one legendary shooting outing into something special for himself. Maybe he's just that good or maybe he's just good at making first impressions because the FO and coaching staff worked out plenty of lottery talent and nothing of note came out of the rest while Beilein couldn't contain himself during Garlands workout.

When can the team acknowledge that Kevin Porter Jr. is part of the team? The NBA needs to re-work their draft/trade rules, that was unnecessarily stupid. Guys wearing hats of team that drafted him while being asked about another teams roster.

Agree that he's not the clear #1 prospect offensively, and the fit isn't great there either. But all-around, considering offense and defense, he's head and shoulders above everyone else. He should be an instant difference maker on defense in particular.

Eh, anyone can play defense....

So with no Sexton, Garland, and possibly KPJ (For Utah)

Who is going to be in the lineup with Windler and Dean Wade? I saw we signed a bunch of guards but do any project as PGs?

Booth - ????? (The kid from Miami or the UF kid?) - Windler - Wade - Bolden?

Most teams don't bring the same exact roster if they play in 2 different summer league cities. It shouldn't be that hard to get a group for Utah because there isn't many teams competing. Alot of guys want to play as much as possible to hopefully get noticed.

I don't understand this either. I don't know much about meniscus tears? I am glad he didn't have it removed as I know that is faster to heal, but can cause other issues.

I also haven't seen this said officially that he will not participate. Hopefully, he can get in in Vegas if not Utah.

I am one who loves summer league, so it's a bummer for me.

I also don't remember these guys who got traded not being available for Summer league. What is up with that?

Really nice grab...Danny Green vibes.
Actually, after the draft, I was hoping we'd be able to scoop up Aubrey Dawkins on a two-way contract or minimum contract given the Michigan connections (played under Beilein for two seasons prior to transferring to play for his dad at UCF--ended on great terms).

Alas, New Orleans pounced on him within an hour of the draft and he was signed to a 1-year minimum contract. Good eye, Griff.

Dawkins is arguably the better shooter, but I really like Cohen's all-around game. Led his team in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks, which is a pretty rare feat even for a mid-major guy. Suggests he probably has the defensive ability and IQ to hang at the next level if his 3-point shot translates.

If he plays how we think he might, he might not be a bad candidate for that 2nd two-way contract with Wade.

I'm not crazy on this kid. Dude sucked at Marquette. Then dominated much worse competition. Interesting skill set with almost 5 APG 2 spg and 1 bpg but I'm not expecting much.

Be honest. Did you watch him at Marquette, or are you just basing that on the fact that he didn't get regular minutes and his stats?

They're different players for sure, but there's no argument to be had about Dawkins being the better shooter.

He was probably a top 3-4 shooter in this entire draft class.

Maybe among wings? No way he's a top 3-4 shooter overall in this class.
