Cleveland Cavaliers Summer League 2019

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Usually we grab some guys from Canton.

Guys like Adel, Scoochie Smith, etc. as mentioned in the beginning of the thread likely fill out some of the holes.

With Beilein coming in I am thinking hes hand picking the guys he has interest in seeing. Not sure if he wants to see anyone from Canton. We even brought in a guy for Antonio Lang with Naz Mitrou-Long. I am not saying we aren't gonna bring guys from Canton but Beilein has his connections in college and is likely calling up his contacts trying to see if theirs anyone they suggest he try out.

I don't understand this either. I don't know much about meniscus tears? I am glad he didn't have it removed as I know that is faster to heal, but can cause other issues.

I also haven't seen this said officially that he will not participate. Hopefully, he can get in in Vegas if not Utah.

I am one who loves summer league, so it's a bummer for me.

I also don't remember these guys who got traded not being available for Summer league. What is up with that?
Meniscus tears can have a very tedious healing process. The meniscus is made from cartilage so gets barely any blood flow so can be very stubborn to heal. Depending on what part of the meniscus is torn a player might need surgery as it receives zero blood flow.

From my observations whilst he had an impressive workout he doesn't strike me as being in terrific physical condition right now. I'm sure the team has assessed him physically and have concluded whether he needs more rehab in terms of protecting and strengthening the knee to prevent reoccurrence as opposed to actually healing the injury.

Signed another Big. His profile is similar to Dean Wade's just not as good. Stretch 4 can slide over to Center. Doesn't block shots and soft on the glass.

Top-5 in the Big 12 in both rebound percentage and steal percentage, which is a bit of an unusual combination. Not sure why you describe him as "soft"...if anything, he seems like a guy who could provide some much-needed toughness to our frontcourt.

Christ, is that supposed to be an eye test? What an awful font. Texas really leaning into the whole anti-reading image.

Darius Miller could be a cheap option that fits Beileins system for the final roster spot and fills the backup SF need

From the only video I watched which was him vs Duke last season he played with energy. He still just seems like a less talented Dean Wade. But this is the type of big Beilein likes so for Summer League he should be a good fit. But with us already signing Dean Wade to a 2-Way contract I doubt Dylan makes it past summer league. Hopefully he balls enough to get a camp invite some where or maybe comes to Canton.

Also doubt he makes the final roster...big differences I see are that Wade is more of an offense-oriented PF, while Osetkowsi at 250 pounds is basically a rebounding specialist/energy guy center. So I don't think having Wade necessarily rules him out, but I'm also not sure Osetkowski is skilled enough to merit a roster spot.

Osetkowski is not a center. He played next to Bamba and Jaxson his two years at Texas. He's a stretch four offensively and is an okay rebounder energy guy. I don't even see him making it past Summer League. Just needed a backup for Wade since Beilein likes having 3 to 4 shooters at all times when Wade takes a break Osetkowski will likely step in.

I know that, I just think he's more likely to make it in the NBA as a small-ball center than as a jumbo PF.

DO is really good passer. Beilein likes him because he can hit the man off the short roll. His steals look legit too. He has quick hands and is opportunistic when a big exposes the ball.

His handle sucks. That is a shame. Worked a little in college. He looks good attacking closeouts in terms of when to do it, but that handle is too loose for the NBA.

Bit of a hulk this guy. He needs better conditioning. I dunno. He is a surprisingly good passer. I think if he could NBA condition himself and really hit the 3 he could make it.

Still hes such a similar prospect to Dean Wade I think hes just coming to Summer League to back up Wade. Maybe he gets to Canton and gets some playing time. Your right that he fits what Beilein likes. I Wonder if Beilein talked to Shaka Smart about this guy, Shaka did hire his right hand man Yalich so Beilein could have gotten word that he has great work ethic or something. Sometimes the guys you least expect to make are the ones that make it.

Delly looked terrible in summer league.

I don't think this guy makes it either, he just has some rare skills. Looks like a high IQ guy. To me, he looks like he just doesn't have enough body control to be in the NBA. Looks a little clumsy.

Just to add, Amp Lawrence is a long 6’7 wing who has played everywhere from guard to stretch 4 at Miami.

Pretty good three point shooter (career 38%)—albeit streaky—in college, but a strong defender who enjoys that end of the floor.

He also crashes the boards and has been a willing passer from his position.

He’ll clearly be moving to the wing in Summer League, but he might be an interesting one to watch defensively.
