Cleveland Indians 2018-2019 Offseason Outlook

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Baseball is weird. Hot teams win the playoffs. If we win the central, its anyone's game in the playoffs and even a team not as good as last year can win it all. You have just decreased your odds some, but still have a decent shot.

I am not saying I am happy about having a lesser team or denying this team wont be as good, but a few breaks, a young player or two stepping up, and we can win it all. We have a great starting pitching staff and two of the top 5 MVP candidates. We aren't as deep as other teams, but in a very weak central, we will make the playoffs and then have a shot if healthy to win it all.

This falls on Francona. They will likely win the division again. He needs to have this team playing it’s absolute best ball of the season in late September.
Last year they coasted pretty much the entire season and couldn’t get in it in gear and were steamrolled by Houston.
I hope that beating changes the approach they take to the season and how they need to be playing in September.

I am not an expert on baseball by any means, know football and basketball much better, but one of the things I know is Francona is one of the best. If its possible to pull this team to a World Series victory, Francona is the manager to do it.

I think injuries played a part and players get hot in baseball unlike any other sport and we didn't get hot at the right time. It happens and really out of the managers control.

Indians shuffled around players, saved money, and are still losing so far this off-season. They'll hang another central division banner at the ballpark for our 9k fans to look at in April-May, but let's be honest here, we aren't in Boston's, New York's, or Houston's league.

Yes, hot baseball teams advance in playoffs, we saw it with NY when we choked. Indians organization cut costs but they're still banking everything on the pitching staff getting hot at the right time and staying healthy.

The one major fuck up is starting the 2019 season with Lindor leading off. This lineup absolutely cannot have him in that spot.

It is a different sport, but they were not ready to play in the playoffs lMO.
I don’t find Terry to be infallible nor perfect. Yes he’s an excellent manager and he’s great for Cleveland, but the results from the 2017 and 2018 offseasons should certainly lead to an alternative approach.
Perhaps it’s wratcheting up the intensity level earlier in the year, perhaps it’s a different message to mentally prep the guys.
Something needs to be different. Perhaps the infusion of new personnel will automatically inject a different enthusiasm.
We’ll see.

I really hope no Indians fans attend the games to make a real point to the cheap shitty Dolans...

I don't like the Dolan's as much as the next guy but the faces of the Indians doesn't deserve an empty stadium.

Indians fans also needs to fill the stadium up so the Dolans have one less excuse on maintaining a high payroll.

Ranked 3rd in TV ratings for local markets.

Imagine if we were top 8 in attendance as well. I would assume we'd be adding to the payroll instead of chopping it, and if not? The fans have every reason to hate on the Dolan's and bitch them out on every outlet that exists. But since we flirt with 27th-28th best attendance for like 3 months of baseball, we can't bitch about much regarding payroll, it is what it is.

"Stop tweeting, move on Trevor"

"Hey that twitter 'incident' from a few days ago, tell us about that"

Very ironic

I’m so sick of seeing this shit. You want to know why they slashed payroll? Because of cheap shitty fans. But fuck facts am I rite?

Why don’t you like the Dolans? Can’t be because of having one of the best front offices/manager combos in the league. And the best front office in Cleveland.
