Cleveland Indians 2018-2019 Offseason Outlook

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Gonzalez's career OPS at home: .974
OPS on the road: .728

That includes his first career season in Oakland as well, but still. Temper your expectations on him doing much of anything.

Don’t think this is them not buying into their young guys, or an indictment on them at all.

This is them upgrading the vs RHP power bat they originally tried (Joyce) with someone who finally caved on their contract expectations who is almost certainly the better player.

Not a lot of pop in that young outfield crop that’s being projected to be at the MLB level, even when they’re performing.

Yeah I pretty much see this as a lottery ticket. Hopefully it works out cause it would help out overall OF depth but if not its not going to prevent any other move from really being taken so take a chance and see what happens.

If CarGo can regain his form from 9 years ago, he can be decent for this lineup.

But it’s a minor league deal. Doesn’t hurt anyone.

This signing is certainly an indictment of Naquin, as he was given a golden opportunity to seize the RF job (at least against RHP) and has quite an underwhelming spring. If CarGo makes the roster, there’s no reason to have Naquin on it too leaving the Tribe the choice of using his final option or trading him despite his relatively low value at the moment.
