Cleveland Indians 2018-2019 Offseason Outlook

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If/when the Reds miss out on Corbin, Keuchel and other top starting pitchers on the free agent market, they may be willing to give up the necessary players to acquire Kluber or Bauer. Any package would have to be headlined by Senzel and also include either Schebler, Winkler or Trammel along with an arm.

Are the Reds in rebuild or let’s see what happens mode?

Schebler is in no way, shape, or form a centerpiece type player.

Wasn't suggesting he was (that is what is meant by plus the farm) but we need OF for our "window" now. Schebler is also controllable through 2022. Winker is coming off a torn labrum.

Would 1000% rather have Winker

I'm asking for Suarez first - all-star in his prime locked up through 2025 on an affordable contract.

I'm also asking about Luis Castillo, who has elite potential and is under team control through 2023.

Of course, I'm asking about Iglesias and Nick Senzel, for obvious reasons.

I like Jesse Winker and Amir Garrett as well.

I’m confused as to what the Reds are trying to do here and why they have interest in Kluber.

They don't have a FOR starter, we have 4. Anr a trade is probably the only way they get one because SPs don't want to sign up for half their starts at GAB.

Two more seasons max for Bauer in Cleveland.

In case you missed his evaluation of his career going forward:

"One of the biggest things I want to do is gonna change the way the game thinks about player development and thinks about tracking players and health and training and stuff like that. That's actually one of the reasons I want to sign one-year contracts, because it lands me on a bunch of different teams so I can kind of spread that knowledge to multiple different organizations, a bunch of different players, spring training with all the minor league guys and all the guys you play with during the season. That's one of the many reasons I want to do a one-year contract deal. That's something I'm super passionate about."

Even on a one year deal, would the Tribe go for the $22M+ contract he could get
right now on the open market? Not likely- not the financial structure to pull it
off and a pittance of return if he would walk away at the end of the year.

Tough road ahead for the organization and fans.

Really would like to come out of a potential Reds deal with Taylor Trammel. Love the upside and at a position of need.

That I understand, but this is a CY Young caliber player. I’ve seen the Reds play, they need way more than that to contend. I don’t see the point of giving up top prospects for 1 dude.
You do that when you’re a piece away.

It would have to be Kluber then. At least you get 3 years of him. I highly doubt bauer would stay there. And he will be a free agent in 2 years. But I agree, no sense emptying the farm, when you"re nowhere close to contending.
