Cleveland Indians 2018-2019 Offseason Outlook

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don’t think there’s a chance the Indians would get Senzel and Trammel from the Reds.

If the Indians could pry Senzel and Winker, I’d take it and run. FWIW, Winker can really really hit.

I wouldn’t mind if Stephenson or Finnegan came along as a reclaimation project.

Here's the thing, and I really hope this is the Indians approach:

They don't have to trade Bauer or Kluber. They could roll with what they have, make a few small trades/free agent signings, and still be a playoff team. They have all of the leverage in the world, especially given that Kluber/Bauer are the best available SPs on the free agent or trade market. So you ask for a haul. Not a good deal. You get a f'in home run deal that allows you to win now AND helps your future.

Senzel or Suarez is just the start of the package for the Reds. The Dodgers better be willing to move Bellinger and more. The Yankees better include Andujar, Florial, and more.

And if they say no? Wish them the best with JA Happ and Nathan Eovaldi.

My thinking as well. No need to make a trade just to make a trade. We're heading into 2019 with our starting rotation being our biggest strength. If we weaken that for a marginal upgrade in the outfield and a few good prospects that aren't set to help us this upcoming season, then we're setting a playoff team back for no reason.

Minnesota should be pretty solid next season, maybe an 83-86 win team, so unless we're getting major upgrades in spots of weakness for one of our main starters, I don't see a reason to weaken the one major bright spot this team still has.

Ive been saying that all along. These other teams have no leverage. ' oh no, we wont include him" Well, then kiss our ass. If we trade one of our aces to one of these big money teams and dont get a major haul in return I will be sorely disappointed and disgusted.

If Chris Antonetti underwent a full frontal lobotomy, then I can see him pulling the trigger on that Yankees or A’s deal.

Yes, those stood out as being next level bad......I also didn't really like a Dodgers deal around someone like Puig.

Is this how many view Kluber outside of the fanbase? Or is this just a guy making some really bad fake trades?

Atlanta seemed passable, if you view Wright as a potential 1 or 2.

I'd be disappointed with every one of those.

Well, I think everybody is overvaluing Kluber and Bauer a little bit in potential trades.

Bauer preferring to go year-to-year on contracts and Kluber thought to probably be more of a 4/5-win pitcher than a 6/7-win pitcher going forward is probably gonna prevent the Indians from getting a Sale like package- which is what I think most Indians fans are expecting.

I don't think the Indians have nearly as much leverage in trade negotiations regarding Kluber/Bauer than most here seem to think but it certainly helps that Atlanta, Milwaukee, San Diego, Cincinnati, Yankees and Dodgers are all coming up short on their Free Agent pitching pursuits.... especially with Eovaldi going back to Boston.

I disagree on overvaluing them. Nathan Eovaldi was tremendous for Boston during the stretch run but is it even close between he and Kluber and Bauer? Yet Eovaldi is expected to get $17-20 Million per year from a team. Dallas Keuchel is out there, but who else are teams chasing a FOR starter going to go after? JA Happ? Charlie Morton? There's just not a ton out there. That's why you're seeing the Giants dangle Madison Bumgarner and the Mets pushed Noah Syndergaard to the block.

Again, the Indians hold all of the leverage here. They can do nothing and win their division next year. They should and I think will demand a king's ransom for Kluber or Bauer.

I would be happy with 1 player that will be a star or is close to being one, than a bunch of prospects that may or may not get there. I've always believe in quality over quantity in a trade like this.

It is definitely a fun time, but I don't believe the indians have 100% leverage either. The other teams know we have to trade one if we want to compete for a chip. Sure we don't have to trade one, but the writing has been on the wall for sometime now, I don't think they will go back. But at any rate, our guys are elite pitchers, and you would think a few teams would get into a bidding war.

But for me, I would want one of Torres, andujar, bellinger and maybe Suarez. The rest would be bonus to me. Need to get a young, controllable star who could hit.

Personally I could be tempted by the Dodger offer … would rather have Bellinger

That Dodgers offer is pretty good, I'd prefer Joc over Puig though

Jim Bowden proposed this trade:

Trevor Bauer to Dodgers for Alex Verdugo, Joc Pederson and Alex Wood

Don't think it's remotely realistic, but that would be a phenomenal return IMO. For a former GM, his trade ideas/articles aren't very good.

Why wouldn't we overvalue them? We have no incentive to trade them unless it actually improves our team?

Zero reason for the Indians to settle on any deal.
