Cleveland Indians 2018-2019 Offseason Outlook

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Seriously? Wtf. He has to hear way worse than that. I honestly didn't even think the celeb types read their comments much. Guess I am wrong.

In general just about every verified blue check journalist on twitter has thin skin these days and some have this historical revisionism idea the internet only consists of individuals with a pleasant disposition.

The funniest part about them is that they deal out criticism for free but when it's returned they block people which leaves them in a bubble where they are rarely challenged about anything.

Andujar is another guy who had his numbers inflated a bit by playing at that tee-ball stadium in the Bronx. Not taking anything away from him, but there is a pretty sizeable OPS and HR/AB shift between him in New York and him on the road.

Still a hell of a talent.

Seems like his numbers are well within the non statistically significant category though.

Just look at pitching splits home vs. away. There's correlation there.

Guys generally hit better at home because pitchers are generally worse on the road.

In terms of AVG, OBP, SLG.....NYY Stadium is average to a tick above average. It boosts HR's but suppresses doubles and triples. Progressive field lags slightly behind but is a comparable AVG, OBP park....with a slight lag in SLG....but a more double friendly venue for right handed hitters.

EDIT: digging a little further, Bellinger would be such a nice fit if you are looking at park factor boost. Progressive field is made for a lefty hitter.....and someone with his speed would just feast as a doubles machine (+.25 rating for lefties on a 1.0 scale)....it's also a really friendly HR park for lefties (+.20 rating for lefties on a 1.0 scale). It's above league average in every hitting metric for lefties (sans triples). Progressive field also bests Dodger stadium in every 4 year sample hitting metric for lefties, many by a wide margin.

Yep, for sure. Like I said, I wasn't taking anything away from Andujar. I think he's a hell of a hitter, but I would expect that home run number to tick down to around 21-24 in a full season in Cleveland. He could easily be a 50-55 double and 3-4 triple guy here though, which would be extremely exciting at his age as long as he kept his batting average in that .280-.300 range as well.

Needs to work on his eye though - only drew 25 walks last season and he's not a great defender by any means.

Yeah, I'd prefer Bellinger and added some notes on park factor with him in that post. He seems like a great fit in not only our lineup but ballpark as well.....but Andujar is a nice plan B.

Cody has hit significantly better on the road in AVG, OBP, SLG, OPS and Progressive field is a super friendly lefty park. He could see a potentially significant production boost playing 81 games there vs. Dodger Stadium.

I was once told that alot of the blue verified Twitter types actually have people who control those for them. Maybe thats just the mega- celeb types. Funny to how the " blue" accounts only follow or converse with other " blue" accounts. The lovely world of Twitter.

Fun fact: I'm blocked by Buster Olney on twitter. One day probably about a year and a half ago, he sent a tweet in all caps and I responded "watch the caps lock old man" and was blocked within fifteen seconds. :chuckle:
I’m blocked by him too. Feel like he’s the Mike Silver of baseball.

It is true that some have social media managers. A person can make a decent amount of money if they are good at that sort of thing with little effort, same for community managers.

The blue check accounts conversing with another like that is because once one has a blue check they get a new inbox option that only messages / notifications from other blue check users are stored iirc.

Probably should stay on topic though lol

Didn’t think my opinion meant that much :chuckle:

1) trading Kluber for best package possible of prospects and major league ready talent

2) try to dump off EE or Kipnis’ remaining salary

3) use the money freed up to get some bullpen arms and another OFer or two

You write your own columns so it’s nice to hear your opinion. Now if the package for Kluber isn’t what the FO wants, do we just take the best one or keep him?

I agree with 2 and 3 as well. I think they are looking to move those guys this week. Marwin Gonzalez is my top target since he can play just about anywhere well defensively.

If we get a guy like Marwin (who is solid at first base) and keep Yandy, do you consider moving Alonso as well?

I think the FO will stick to their guns if they don’t think they’re getting the best value for Kluber and/or Bauer, i could see them not moving them at all and be more aggressive in moving EE, Kipnis and like you suggested even Alonso to trim salary and allocate that to other positions of need

Also thanks for reading my work
